In this picture you can see the detail of the embroidery and lace on Princess Anna of Bourbon-Two Sicilies' dress and veil. Her wedding occurred in 2005.

What a beautiful pic the second one is. I remember thinking her gown and veil were very pretty but this pic really shows it all off, including the tiara. Thx for posting,
CyrilSebastian!

Those antique lace veils worn by royalty are so exquisite! And they do appear to be influencing contemporary bridal fashion just a bit. When I got married, I wore a long lace mantilla but that was somewhat unusual as almost everyone in that era chose to be enveloped in clouds of tulle.
Now I am seeing more and more veils with at least a lace edging, if not lace appliques. And some designers are showing veils with a lot of lace adornment that are as long as, if not longer than, the trains on elaborate wedding dresses. Seems like to get the really good lace, though, a contemporary bride will need to be prepared to spend a lot of money. A whole lot!

Completely off topic, but I am home feeling a bit puny today so I have been reading a novel on my kindle and imagine my surprise when I saw the word bumbershoot! I had no idea it was an actual word, not just the nickname of an enjoyably prolific poster on RD!
