I have a book that is largely a collection of sketches by Queen Victoria, who clearly had both training and some artistic ability. And I know that Prince Charles likes to paint water colors, that Daisy has designed costumes for the Royal Danish Ballet, and that Carl Philip went to school at RISDI (Rhode Island School of Design), and has designed a couple of album covers.
I suppose back in Victoria's day, lots of royal ladies did fancy needlework, and, now that I think about it, Alexandra of Russia was supposed to have made some nice sketches, and Queen Alexandra fancied herself quite a photographer.
Are there any other royal artists out and about? Do any of them have real ability?

Queen Beatrix does sculptures iirc and Queen Sonja recently had an exhibition of her designs. http://www.dagbladet.no/2...ronprins_haakon/18971707/And Queen Elisabeth of the Belgians was a very talented artist. She had her own atelier at Laken estate http://tinypic.com/r/2yjo9ja/6where she created sculptures and paintings and she was a very good violinist.

Prince Karel of Belgium was a painter. He went under the name 'Karel van Vlaanderen'. I'm guessing he inherited these talents from his mother queen Elizabeth who was indeed very good at sculpture and a very good violin player. Hence the queen Elizabeth competition for music that is held every year in Brussels. Delphine Boel, the illegitamite daughter of king Albert II, is also an artist.

IIRC, Crown Princess Victoria's siblings called her a talented artist. Her artwork was exhibited in 2007 when she turned 30. http://royaldish.com/inde...ic=2347.msg89295#msg89295Many of the Bernadottes were artists, including King Carl XV (1826-1872), Prince Gustaf (1827-1852), Princess Eugenia (1830-1889), Prince Eugen (1865-1947), Prince Sigvard (1907-2002), and Prince Carl Philip (born 1979).

Any photos of Bea's work out there? I'd love to see it.

I can't find any recent ones, but one sculpture she made when she was 10 was auctioned at Christies. Here's the link: http://www.ppe-agency.com...search=24-03-2009ChristieHere's a link to Delphine Boel's website where you can see some of her work: http://www.delphineboel.com/ Her work aren't really my style. I guess I'm old fashioned when it comes to art. I prefer art made by the Old Master, Renaissance and impressionists artists.

Prince Carl Philip? Well, in his wildest dreams I’m sure!

Well, he did go to RISDI. And that's a pretty selective art school.

The question is, did Carl Philip get admission on his own merits or because he's a prince? I've seen CP's cutlery designs and I'm not impressed. I just read on wiki that CP only attended RISDI for one year 2007-2008. Did he even graduate at RISDI? Here's a link to pics of the fireplace screen he designed: http://www.trendey.com/fi...nce-carl-philip-of-sweden

Seriously, RISDI is considered one of the preeminent art schools in the U.S. and apparently CP was studying there anonymously. One of his designs won him the school's ``highest design distinction'' award. Maybe he's a crappy self-indulgent prince, but he might be a really good design professional. And after all, many people very much esteem Scandinavian design. http://www.risd.edu/Histo...ical_Museum_New_Identity/

Of course taste varies from person to person but being scandinavian myself I can whole heartedly say that I find his design ugly!

Can't say I'm in love with Daisy's painting, or at least this one. But I think her costume designs are pretty good.

Fred and Mary have acquired some very interesting contemporary art and installed it in their home. I know contemporary art is not for everyone, but I do think some of what they have is very good. Don't know if they have an art consultant or not, but I would assume so.
