In Dutch gossip land (gossip tv shows, gossip magazines) the rumour goes that Count Claus-Casimir (2nd child and only son of Prince Constantijn & Princess Laurentien) is 'expelled' and will finalize his secondary education at Gordonstoun. Indeed the place where some British royals also attended and which was dreaded by Prince Charles.

Claus-Casimier's older sister Countess Eloise is angry about how this item was described and discussed in Dutch gossip land. Especially by royalty expert Marc van der Linden in Dutch gossip/showbizz tv programm RTL Boulevard.

Interesting ... anything else about that story?

I just gather that Eloise has a very busy Instagram account with more than 100.000 followers and was in trouble for publicly smoking a while back (she is over 18, looking for lime light herself, so I hope it is okay to post that). Her parents complained that this information was "private" - I got the impression she was another royal who likes the attention, but only when it suits her.

I would agree - the Princess cousins are going down the same path .... maybe the parents should look at Belgium and Norway in terms of not having brattish kids

That's the impression I get, too.

She's the oldest grandchild of Beatrix, waayyyyy down in the line of succession so irrelevant from that point of view. She is 18, graduated secondary education this spring and has most likely started at university this September. Or she may have planned a gap year, which is what I would have advised my kid, since most of the classes are online, student life is zero and making friends is hard if you cannot meet up.

Her parents will have been rather pissed off that she's smoking, and even more that she was stupid enough to post it. But hey, she's a Dutch kid and they don't do obey. On the other hand, her parents don't strike me as strict ppl that would take their kids camping, or working on a farm (even is it's in the south of France), cycling trough the rain, mend their own punctures, or volunteer at the Food bank to teach them a little about humilty, the other 99% and hardship.

I would expect the rumours about C-C to be true. He's the only boy in a pack of girls so his sense of entitlement is probably even worse. Wax went (or was sent) to United World College in Wales for his final 2 years of secondary education. IIRC he said something about 'getting away from his mom was the best for both of them'.

Eliose strikes me as the Dutch Olympia. Self centered, self centered. self centered. And even if she probably excels academically (which wouldn't surprise me with those parents), she acts like a silly cow. Her istagram looks like it, too. Alexia, being probably the wild one of the triple As, will always be pressed (or sensible enough, or conditioned enough by her parents) to be not too wild. Ceteris paribus she will be the monarch's sister in abt 30 years from now (Yes I believe we'll keep them) and she'll make life for herself (and her sister) impossible if she acts out in public too much.

I checked out her Instaaccount this afternoon (Camille in Monaco has a similar one) - I am very surprised that you can publicly access it (why having a public accound like that?). It shows a very privileged young woman - who is into fashion, posing, eating out, meeting friends and expensive holidays.

I would call it "shallow" - there are no real meaningful things in it. It is surely also owed to the Instagram zeitgeist. Nothing wrong with that but in the hands of a republican ... it has a sense of entitlement to it and she surely likes posing. It is a look at me account. She has one post where she highly recommends a restaurant in Amsterdam. I am not sure ... she gets her popularity mainly from being a member of the DRF so she should be a kind of neutral, IMO.

How was that comment about the criticism of press received by the Dutch people? I am wondering what gives an 18 year old the idea she could tell off the press.

I bet it’s almost impossible for parents in the mass Information Age to raise strong willed children, particularly if they are famous. Not excusing the behavior at all, but I do feel sorry for those it embarrasses.

Just an addition to get a more complete picture: Eloise worked as a waitress in a Japanese restaurent while attending school. And now although she wanted to take a gap year she is now studying at the Hotel School in Amsterdam. The last time she was rather quite on Instagram, the last days she is selling a few of her clothes again (most of them from very "normal" brands like Zara, weekend, H&M...). There is an interview of her made by a youtuber and there she comes across like a rather normal teenager, so I wouldn't judge her by now. So I wouldn't compare her to Olympia. And Instagram is not the reality. Many teenager, even many grown ups just show one side of the story. That's how Instagram works.
And I think it is quite normal to defend your brother if someone tell lies about him. God knows I beat the shit out of a few school mates when they bullied my cousin at elementary school (btw that was more than 25 years ago and now I can settle the quarrel way better )

Pretty much the impression I got. I presume she weighed up having a public account. Anyone with slightest link to any Royal Family seems to be fair game to the Press no matter how trivial the information is. We don’t know her ulterior motive, maybe she fancies herself as a social media star. I know my 11 year olds nephews see being a YouTuber as a career. Obviously, she has already has a boost in terms of publicity from her family, not that she mentions WA etc, she’s clearly not that daft.

Thanks for the additional info anirac!

Let's hope it's all airs and that she's not in the same league as Olympia (that family probably is a lot more cash rich than Constantijn&Laurentien).

(BTW she's 5th in line after the As and her dad Constantijn).

Even if it's not official, the entire DRF is shielded by media restraint. Especially the kids. They go to regular schools and regular sports clubs (with away games to other clubs) and you'll never see pictures of any of them (not even of the lesser royals' kids (like Maurits and Marilène's) in the media. Even Amalia had her swimming lessons in a public pool with regular kids (with the son of a friend of mine).

I am a bit confused - I don't follow the family too closely. Wax und Max seemed to be rather down to earth or understand at least how to pretend to be down to earth. That would fit the description that the kids go to public schools, etc. I think Wax was also brought up that way - I have told before that he did an internship with a friend of ours who would have never guessed that Wax was to become king one day - there was no entitlement at all, according to my friend. They seemed to get a lot of things right - right media exposure, etc. the only thing that was noticeable were the same dresses on all the three As for a while.

Constantijn and Laurentien seem to have the right measurement of public appearances and "normal" life, he is working despite all the wealth and they seemed normal. So it is a bit unusual, that #5 in the line of the throne should give that up as soon as she turned 18 to have a kind of open account with that many followers. What does she think she will gain from that?

We will see how it goes ... I think for young minor royals the line between being a kind of celebrity and royal life is a hard one to define.

I've been following her Instagram account for a while - I like her - she works, she studies - she sells her clothes on - if you didn't know who she was - you'd never know she's a princess! Trying to be a normal kid who is allowed a life and an opinion...which I've always thought the Dutch were famous for....at least when I live there....

Officially she isn't a Princess, upon birth she received the countess title. Her siblings and two of her cousins (the daughters of Friso and Mabel) are count / countess.
