Happy birthday to Edward!

I really am fond of him and Sophie. They seem like decent people, who do their job well and are loving, good parents. Gold star for the Wessexes.

I have to say that the Cambridges and the Wessex’s are stepping up big time, and it’s lovely to see.

Edward looks like an amiable elf in most of these photos.

IMO he was quite arrogant, back in the days of It's a Royal Knockout and up til the St. Andrews debacle [1987-2001].  BUT as all humans are capable of evolving let's hope he's become more human and less of a tool
AND that he's been less spoiled by Mummy than Andrew (tho' on that point I have less hope).

He’s got a good, smart wife. Plus kids now, teens. He and William chose their partners well.

Loved the gigantic, homemade card, and that Ed read it out loud.  Yes

Ed was fortunate in his choice of Sophie. There were hiccups at first, but they've settled into their duties and together have made a lovely family. Rock on, you two!

They are proof that putting your head down and playing the long game, the life long game, of royalty quite simply works!

Ed and Sophie are stars of the family. They prove that you don't always have to be for front to support the family.

I think they did a serious re-evaluation of their life when Louise was born and are simply grateful for her, for James and for living a life where they can make a difference. The gratitude shows.

He is officially a leprechaun - where on this lovely planet if not Ireland or England can you still get those jackets? Seriously? And to add he wears the epitome of english foot wear (no silly not wellies!!) those Timberlands go fantastically well with this Country Gentleman/ James Herriot theme, he has going on.
And the socks… the home-knitted green socks….

Look at that little boy looking at Edward. He is so proud of that card! Regarding choosing partners wisely: I would say in a family like the BRF, it’s important to choose someone who, culturally, understands the Monarchy and it has symbolic meaning to them. We all have cultural bias but how can a non British person really support a monarchy that you don’t understand. Of course, as we all know, being British alone is not the only factor in a successful transition to royal life, but it certainly helps.
