One of my favourite tiaras. I wish it remained in the BRF.

interesting comments about who Pss Margaret might have married - seems that though it may have been ideal for her to marry one of the rich Dukes, it was expected that the Pss and spouse would still work +++ for the BRF and seems that most rich peers wouldn't have wouldn't to do that at all - would get in the way of all the activities they preferred and could afford.

Comes down to the fact the spouse really needs to be someone is well brought up but not rich

Well, since she was the only royal person to own it, I don't think it could be put in the same "royal" category as the Cambridge sapphires (duchess of Cambridge > duchess of Teck > Queen Mary > the Kents).  Maybe the Politmores would take it back, as they owned it for several generations.

I know, I would just love to see future generations wear it.

Do you believe that Lady Sarah Chatto would have liked to have worn the Poltimore Tiara?

No way could I imagine Sarah Chatto in that tiara. It's way too big and ornate for her taste.

No Sarah Chatto is very down-to-earth, she always looks nice and understated. A very talented artist.

I don’t think it’s her cup,of tea. Her own wedding tiara was an original creation fashioned from three brooches her father gave her mother.

I agree with you, temi, and congratulations on 3000 posts! Star
Sarah is a very modest person, I can't imagine her enjoying wearing such an ostentatious piece.

It's an exquisite tiara, but seemed to be a bit difficult to wear due to size and height.

I wonder if we shall ever see it again.

Congrats, Temi!

71 years ago. Princess Margaret was made the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) by her sister, Queen Elizabeth II, on 1 June 1953, the day before the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

maggie rose could have married pete the pilot. she chose not to. she made that choice herself. she also fecked up her life all by herself and blamed everyone other than herself and her decision. she wanted to be in lillibet's shoes.

she would have been very content with pete the pilot,,,instead of desultory life she chose to lead.
