Members of the Wurttemberg family are selling about 200 pieces in November.  So sad!  Does anyone know more?

Celia, I tried researching the auction. I keep getting the same New York Times article.

Because my link is to the NY Times article.  Sotheby's has all the details on their own website (which was pointed out to me elsewhere a couple of days later).

Re Wuerttemberg jewels: Thanks for the headsup. I just found a preview on Sothebys website. Sale will be in Geneva on 6 November and some Wuerttemberg pieces are listed under "Vienna 1900: An Imperial and Royal Collection". Some impressive items, looks like they have gone down a branch of cousins of the current head of the family. Certainly there seem to be very few descendants of Duchess Nadejda who is listed in the provenance (daughter of King Ferdinand of Bulgaria) which may be a reason for the sale....

^ I do like the Ruby and Diamond Tiara and the Diamond Bow Brooch.
Does not 200 pieces of jewelry seem like an excessive amount to sell at one time?

I wondered about the 200 figure after looking at the Sotheby's website.  It didn't seem like 200 pieces there.

Slurp.  Drool.  That catalog has some impressive pieces.
