More pics. I fear the modern stuff will not stand the test of time. I do love it that old buildings are being kept in good shape but some of the decorations are a bit...   I don't like most of the floors. They look plain and the quality of wood is not very good. The old floors that have been fixed are much prettier.





Why do they have taps in the kids' room like that? Looks weird. Is that a kitchen or what?

I like some of the art they've had made but the very colourful psychedelic stuff is just nasty. The stuff with toned down colours is nice enough.

Does anyone know what the buildings are that back onto Fred's place at Amalienborg? Are they government buildings?

It seems that they can look straight into the palace, imagine all the drama they must see.

Wow, it is a cluster of Royal residences and official banquet halls and such.
I quite like the close proximity to the street and public areas. 
There seems to be easy access by the public to some courtyards and museums.
The Danish people must not really be sticky beaks as I don't see many photographs of the Danish Royal Family in and around their homes.  Maybe the Danish media are banned from taking photos from the air.

I can fully see why a house in the country would be a joy, and almost a necessity, if one wanted to learn to ride a horse, take long bike rides, swim or run in privacy.

However, I'm very confused as to where the Amalienborg begins and ends.

It's unlike any other royal palace, in that it's not a palace. Amalienborg is essentially 4 identical mansion houses that form the Amalienborg complex.

There is no beginning or ending, all four sides of the quadrant layout have an entrance/exit (the roads) leading to and from the square.

All four of the mansion houses occupy the same amount of space and garden (although as you can see the garden designs vary). Edit: Actually the houses not occupied by Fred or Marge seem to have a slightly deeper garden on one side, they are the 2 closest to the left of the screen.

I was a bit confused about it at first but I think it's a much more practical design than one huge palace. It's a beautiful design but it's so very open, it wouldn't work in London for security reasons.

It's a necessity for one to need a whole other house to ride a horse, ride a bike or run?  I imagine most manage to do quite well without the need for a second home, and certainly without the need to require the taxpayer to fork out the cash for it.
