Three royal ladies (Snakey, Letizia & Mosh) in the same light blue Hugo Boss skirt

https://www.hellomagazine...fia-hugo-boss-blue-skirt/

At first, when reading, I thought all 3 ladies were in a same sole skirt at once (sounds crowded)  Laughing

Funny, while Meghan's skirt has the nicer pattern, Mary looks 10x better - even in the horridly shiny blue polyester blouse, the colours match very well. Meghan's white shirt with the white skirt just looks unimaginative.

That happens, imo, mostly because Meghan's white shirt is too casual for the skirt.
Mary looks great with the black shirt. It is relatively tight and the torso has clean, strict lines, so it creats an antithesis with the multiple folds of the skirt, while the slightly puffy sleeves upgrade it in something more than casual, yet not exactly formal.

The moment you realize that even the most expensive designers can't help when you convey wishful thinking measurements via email ...

This just reminded me of my grandmother, who was a trained seamstress and made all my clothes when I was a child. If something was too small for one of us, she would tighten her mouth in vast disapproval and say “I put a piece”, meaning she would sew in a panel but it would not look good. Then after giving the altered garment to whoever was thoughtless enough to grow or gain weight, she would say “You gotta reduce!”.

I actually like the black dress with the sheer sleeves that Meghan wore and if she would have swallowed her pride a bit and gone a size or so up it would have been a flattering dress.

Both dresses are to die for.
And the seamstresses that were forced to alter them are still in tears and probably under medical supervision - we can scarcely conceive what pressure had been used to make the poor creatures set the stitches.

Some recent photos of MT suggest she has lost weight and then we see this ... in reality she is short and not thin - nothing wrong with that - but designer dresses are not for her unless they are bespoke which this one is not. Us plebs dress for our shape in off the peg stuff and don't need an added piece of fabric... and the staff in the dress shop tell us if "we are dreaming"

Well to be fair to MT, the dress fit her body size, what it didn't fit was the occassion (or her age and position):
Look at the side seams : they go flawlessly from skirt to bodice, showing that the fabric wasn't pulled.
What the seamstress did, was putting in a modesty piece, because the original version came with an incredibly low back (practically backless) and neither her age, nor the occassion allowed MT to wear such a daring cut.
IMO this was one instant in which a bespoke piece should have been ordered: with a back design that suited MT.
