That’s a bit of an “old” outfit for a young woman, but I think she’s nervous and doesn’t want take an wrong steps so she’s playing it safe.
I hope that as she settles into her role and life, she becomes more confident and stops dressing like a 45-year-old. We already have one princess-in-waiting, Stephanie, dressing like she’s in her 60s. We don’t need more.

I think it's very fortunate for the next generation of royal heirs that Elisabeth is the oldest of that crew...what a poised and charming young lady; she'll be a good role model for the younger future queens to emulate. I can definitely see Leonor having this poise and grace, and I can see Estelle having this poise plus some spunk!
*Maybe she's not the oldest? But she seems to be taking the lead as far as her entry into assuming a more public role.

Yes she is the oldest, she is 20 and Amalia and Ingrid is 18, with one month apart.
the outfit looks like something her mother would wear, or even Queen Paoloa som years ago, a bit old, but the earrings and ponytail helps a bit, she is very elegant and poised.
It must be difficult to fint the right fashion when you are so young and supposed to such work.

OMG, that’s the same thing I thought, Cordelia - just popped right up. Looks like she’s really into participating, too!

The Belgian RF seems to have planned this stage in Elisabeth's life really well - she's at university in England where she can make friends and enjoy a significant amount of privacy, she spends time with the military where she's learning service and teamwork in a non-glamorous way, then she has the odd formal and high-profile royal event. Basically, she's learning her future job yet still being given the space to grow and mature on her own terms
