ANDREW DENTON: Yes. What did... When you first met, what did you see in each other? CROWN PRINCE FREDERIK: What did we see in each other? We saw... Well, it's a bit hard. It's a bit blurry, in a way, because it was just after the Olympics had started and it was one of those evenings where...

G I read a long article some years ago in a French publication that Laurent was really neglected as a child. He hardly saw his parents who paid little attention to him anyway. The article was long and there were a lot of details, but I was unable to find it just now. He started acting out and from then on was labelled "enfant terrible". Phillips meanwhile was taken under Baudoin's wing and given a lot of attention. Maybe "terrible" was not really the word applied to his childhood, but he certainly was neglected. Unfortunately, he has lived up to his reputation of being the black sheep, but after reading that article about 5 years ago, I understood a lot more where he was coming from. I couldn't help but feel sorry for him. His relationship was his brother is still not good. But hopefully, with a supporting wife and great children, he is better.

I think all three children were neglected and IIRC a particular example was a palace chauffeur walking through the palace on Christmas eve and finding P, A and L playing alone in a room. Their parents had disappeared to spend Christmas with their lovers and no thought had been given to the kids. There have also been rumours about Laurent's parentage which I think he has struggled with. Philippe is in a difficult spot. Laurent has done and said some very stupid things, which have embarrassed the monarchy. Phil has been trying to ensure some discipline and accountability. It can't be easy being both a brother and a boss.

Thankfully all three siblings have married very well seemingly, making for much happier families in the next generation.

I like the set up of the photo. It is a fun and rather casual Twist to the everyloving blue-jeans and White/light blue Shirts, that have been so extremely popular over the years. They are dressed alike, but in fun colours, that allow us to see a bit of their preferences -I mean, it IS telling that Laurie chose purple, and Claire a traditional non-committal baby-blue, I would imagine the Boys didn#t care to choose themselves, otherwise I would imagine the Boy with glasses would have chosen a Navy blue - his face and look doesn't scream "fire engine red - look at me"... Well it is a nice picture.

What dreadful parents A&P were.

According to news of a Belgian newspaper "Home" Laurent and his wife have been separated since last Christmas. She left their home with her children and has been living with her parents. The palace does not comment. It has been expected that they will show up together at National Day to show that the rumours are not true. Obviously they haven't. https://adelswelt.de/prin...laire-heimliche-trennung/
