I think Vincent and Josie are mini-Fred and mini-Mary. Vincent is reserved, docile and content being in the background. Josie clearly has an aggressive, look-at-me personality. You can see that in this photo. Josie is also bigger than Vincent. Fred may be taller than Mary, but he always looks smaller than Mary because he "shrinks" in public (or maybe just when he's with Mary. Mary has a masculine build and rough manners - despite the stilettos and expensive dresses. Happy birthday to them. Josie exactly knows, who she is (and will most likely use this to her benefit later on). Josie has inherited Mary’s manspreading tendency…

I am trying to figure out who Vincent looks like. He definitely has his father's colouring. It is interesting that brown eyes are usually dominate over the recessive blue eyes yet none of the their children have Mary's brown eyes. Genetics is interesting.
To my understanding eye color isn't always according to the simple genetic rules (the laws of Mendel). There are more factors involved. And it is interesting to see what can come up. E.g. my mom has brown eyes, while her parents had brown and blue eyes. My dad has grey / greyblue eyes, while his parents had both grey / blue eyes (I am not certain about my grandfather, he died years before I was born). My siblings and I have all brown eyes, but with variation in intensity. And later on I got comments that my eye color isn't soley brown, that it also contains some green and/or greyish coloring. Often depending on the light and the way you look into my eyes which will prevail / be more visible. Every person is unique, but still you can recognize specific traits / features that reminds you of his or her family members. As well as from direct family members as rather distinct ones. Mendel's laws never fail. Your mom have brown eyes, your father grey/green. You all have brown eyes with different hues. Mendel's laws clearly state that brown is dominant, light is recesive. Two parents with brown eyes can have a blue/green/grey child . Two parents with blue eyes can never have a brown eye child....and if they have, I would be asking for a DNA test.

Personally I think Vincent has always been the cutest/most handsome of their kids while Josie always reminded me of her paternal grandfather when he was older.
One thing about kids is that they change. They look like one side of the family first, then the opposite when they grow and their facial features will change again as seniors. I've seen it in my family, and myself, looking at old pictures.

Based on my mothers heritage she is not homozygote for brown (her mother had blue eyes and her father brown eyes). My mom's side is funny with regard to heritage: Father: brown eyes with blond hair Mother: blue eyes with brown hair Children: a mixture of these traits (brown hair with brown eyes; blond with brown eyes; blond with blue eyes and if I am correct even one with brown hair and blue eyes).

Personally, I think Vincent bears more than a passing resemblance to Papa Slurpson...though I suspect I'm alone in thinking so!

Vincent has a passing resemblance to Uncle Joachim, I think. He is a doll, looks like a gentle soul & I hope his character is as nice as his outer appearance. Josie ... (tries to remember we aren't supposed to dish on kids ... ) (tries to remember we aren't supposed to dish on kids ... ) aaargh it's so hard!! I suppose one can say she is confident & outgoing - there, that's nice.

I don’t see anything Fred in him but for the colouring (and even for the colouring, Fred has never been blond.) And ever since birth I found that Josephine is a carbon copy of Henri.

I think in this picture Vincent looks more like Christian than he ever has, which is a shame because he's always been the best looking of all their kids (too mean?).

Isn’t it so much fun seeing who these kids look the most like and how much they keep changing. I do think Vincent has a very “mindful” personality while Josie is the complete opposite, the “see me” of the 4 kids. Will be interesting to see where they are in 5-10 years! I see a bit of each grandparent in them both.

Beautiful portraits. Vincent seems to be a gentle soul. I like the two solo pictures of Josephine, she has more self-control of herself in them, and that shows another side of her that is pleasant.
