Lil' Henrik turns 5 today and the palace released three new photos of him.

He is adorable.

When he was born, was there any talk about why they waited until this male grandchild to use the name Henrik?

None because it's not a royal name here - just a very normal name. Also Christian has Henri as one of his names so Henrik is not the first grandchild named after Henrik sr.

Actually, it was a big surprise that they chose to give their son the name firstname as the prince consort. Very unexpected.

What Harley wrote - also it's a bit "off" for a child his age IMO. There are lots of men around 30 - 50 named Henrik, but not so many young ones. No doubt it'll get in fashion again at some point though.

Indeed. As a comparison, I have dated a Henrik and there was a Henrik in my high school class but I've never taught a Henrik in any of the classes I've taught.

But I think, considering that he's a prince, it's a nice gesture and I think it's a much nicer choice than the highly un-danish Vincent or the Top 10 names the Derfs have gone for with their kids, even when most of them are good enough names. At least I get the feeling that it was a name they chose for a reason and that they put thought behind it.

I very much agree about the names chosen Yes

I've dated a Henrik too ( ) and have two older cousins named Henrik. I can't remember ever having met someone younger than me named Henrik though Thinking

Henrik is a beautiful little boy.  Yes

I've read in a few places that Henrik and Marie's father are old friends and he pushed the match so IMO it's quite sweet they named their first son after him.

He has always been a very beautiful child. And judging by what his older brothers look like, he'll continue that way Yes
