I don't follow the Dutch RF very closely, has Princess Beatrix attended similar events for the victims of the 'occupying forces' (Nazis)?

I wouldn't know off the top of my head, but I'm assuming so.

Do you think the Dutch royals would somehow be complicit with Nazism? I doubt it. They fled the country during the occupation. Mind you, the Dutch were very late to create a monument, considering that proportionally more Dutch Jews suffered than any other country.

Thanks for the reply. I'd assume so, too. I just couldn't remember anything right off, either.

Loosely translated as:

Beatrix enjoys working visit to Curaçao: 'I love this island very much'

Princess Beatrix thoroughly enjoyed her four-day working visit to Curaçao and hopes to be able to go back one day. "I am very happy and I love this island very much," said the 83-year-old princess during a press moment.

Beatrix says that she is doing well and that she had a good time on Curaçao. She leaves the island again on Sunday evening after four days. "I enjoy immensely, especially what you experience here. The dedication, the care for people, the care for animals and for nature as a whole."

During her visit, the princess also learned a lot, for example that coral is an animal and not a plant. "They can eat, listen, feel. Nobody really knows that and now you can see it."

The working visit was devoted to 25 years of collaboration between nature organizations within the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance, activities of social organizations and the impact of the corona pandemic on the island.

RED: the visit was from November 25 till November 28 2021

I’m sure we would all love a visit to an Island to enjoy the sun ... age is no excuse to the disregard of the restrictions others have.... someone should have provided advice to stay home but apparently that is in short supply there

King about infected princess Beatrix: it's going great

Princess Beatrix, who has contracted a corona infection, is doing "all the best". That's what King Willem-Alexander said to a reporter from Blauw Bloed. Fortunately, there is "fortunately nothing wrong" with his mother, he said.

The Government Information Service announced on Saturday that the princess had been tested due to mild cold complaints and the result turned out to be positive. Since then, the 83-year-old princess has been in isolation at her Drakensteyn estate in Lage Vuursche.

"She had a bit of a cold and thought it was because of the air conditioning in the tropics," said Willem-Alexander. Shortly before the positive test result, Princess Beatrix had returned from a working visit to Curaçao. There she met groups of children and face masks were not worn everywhere. During that working visit, the princess said that she has already had her booster shot.

According to the king, Beatrix is "in very good spirits, so it's all fantastic". Willem-Alexander thanked everyone in the Netherlands in front of the Blue Bloods camera for their sympathy with the princess.

Due to the positive test result, Beatrix will miss Princess Amalia's eighteenth birthday tomorrow.

I think she is quite close to Margriet and her husband Pieter - certainly when Friso was injured they flew to be with Beatrix and the family. Sisters are amongst the few that a monarch (or former monarch) can genuinely be themselves with

For many years Margriet and her husband Pieter have supported the royal couple Beatrix and her late husband Claus. They were seen as a kind of reserve couple and seemed to be very close indeed. This kind of role was not really for the other 2 sisters, Irene and Christina. Irene may have been a support behind the scenes, but given the scandal over her marriage and all. Her ex-husband, the late Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parma, was apparently still a valued guest of the Dutch royal family. Christina especially seemed to want to be more normal, just to follow her passions of music, among other things. As is known of the 4 sisters Christina died first, from the effects of cancer.
