That photo of Alexandra is "famous" of sorts because it's one of the few where she's actually seen smiling.
   
If only Tsarina Alexandra and Nicholas II had been in St. Petersburg more often at royal society functions. If only she could have smiled more like this.

Tsarina Alexandra's social projects included establishing workhouses for the poor, creches for working mothers, a school for training nurses at Tsarkoe Selo and another for housemaids.

Tsarevich Nicholas celebrated his 16th birthday on May 18, 1884. A coming of age ceremony was held at the Winter Palace.
