The Royal Couple and Princess Beatrix will be vaccinated

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Princess Beatrix will also be vaccinated against the corona virus as soon as it is their turn. The Government Information Service has confirmed this to the ANP news agency. Princess Beatrix is celebrating her 83rd birthday this month.

The royal couple responded this morning to the first vaccinations in the Netherlands via Twitter:




Roughly translated as:

"The start of the vaccinations is a turning point that gives hope for a way out of this crisis. Many thanks to everyone who cooperates! Now it is important to persevere together."

King and queen on corona riots: 'Together we will get through this'

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima announced via social media on Wednesday that they are very grateful for the efforts of aid workers during the disturbances of the past evenings.

On the social media of the Royal House, the King and Queen thanked "all police officers, social workers and employees of municipalities who are committed to the safety of all of us". According to the couple, the aid workers do "fantastic work" under difficult circumstances.

"We sympathize with all entrepreneurs and others who have been affected by violence. And we are impressed by all the heartwarming actions people have taken to help each other. Together we will get through this!"

The king and queen are referring to the riots that have broken out in recent days, out of dissatisfaction with, among other things, the corona measures. In several cities, shops were demolished and looted, aid workers were assaulted and pelted and vehicles set on fire.

Spontaneous relief campaigns were launched for duped entrepreneurs. GeenStijl collected more than 1 ton for a looted Primera store in Den Bosch and thanks to a group of residents, the station hall of Eindhoven Central is getting a new piano.

It will be interesting to see how public support of the monarchy is once the riots have receded.

I learned only a few days ago by a very helpful article posted on this site about the Dutch Royal Family and public opinion in 2020. After their trips to Greece etc, it will be interesting to see how they try to win back public favour.

I heard about the picture with the caption from Dutch media. At first I thought it was a joke and that it was made with a fake WA and Max. And I have to confess both look different then theirselves in that picture. So I am still not completely convinced....

Possibly weird angle, although I guess there’s been more time to exercise as their diaries have been empty bar online stuff due to lockdown. Those kind of coats don’t usually flatter anyone in my opinion. I think the sunglasses are hiding a makeup free face too. Though I do love a casual photo every now and again.
