Forget the hats, I want her brooches!!!
Great thread by the way. Some of those hats from the sixties were those pillbox hats that Jackie made famous. They were a huge fashion statement at the time.
She adores that three strand pearl necklace. I think it was given to her as a wedding present. She is wearing it in almost every photo.

Does anyone know the origin of the hairnets at Chelsea Flower Show? Since the early 1970's she has either worn a decorated hairnet or gone bareheaded, apart from once when she wore a headscarf. I've seen a few theories; one suggested it was because her hats obscured her face when she was leaning in to look at exhibits closely, another that bees were attracted to her colourful hats. The hairnets have black bows on them which might repel bees.
It's become something of a tradition

I know it has been awhile since anyone posted on this thread but I found some great photographs of Queen Elizabeth in some great hats. I just had to share these:
This one reminds me of Wedgewood
*Note the gorgeous brooch securing the poppies.

Tiaras definitely count!
Very glam:
This is a beautiful hat. In what year was this picture of Queen Elizabeth taken?

According to Vanity Fair:
"Hubba hubba! For a 1954 royal tour of Australia—taken the year after her coronation ceremony—the young queen wore slim white lace and gloves and actually carried a parasol to go with her wide-brimmed “cartwheel”-style straw hat. It’s all very New Look–ish—perhaps proof that at least at one point, she flicked through Vogue like the rest of us."

I could do without the bow tie dress/hat combo. Yikes.

I have loved the Queen's hats for a long time and am glad Future Crayon started this topic. Just wish I could see LetThemEatKate's pictures. They aren't showing up for me.

I love Queen Liz's hats.
Here is Christmas 2014. She looks wonderful in this fuschia color.

Get in line, PeDe, I would be happy with just a couple, skip that, I would scream dance and laugh like a hyena, would I just get ONE!!!!
Anywho, doesn't she look incredibly like her mom in that picture? With QM's signature style, a mommy like smile she is a dead ringer for the old bird...

Most of these hats would look ridiculous on a majority of people as can be surmised from Will and Kate's wedding
. But on the queen they look regal.
She definitely wears the hats vs the hats dominating her. Love most of them.
Add me to the brooch lovers list too.
