There's probably another thread discussing this already but looking for a tiara for Madeleine to wear for her wedding, I once again ran into the ugliest tiara on Earth, the one thing that should have been left in the dungeon it was found in - brace yourselves - I give you:

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden Steel Doorstopper / Knuckle-duster / Wolf trap Tiara ( I bet there's another half floating around somewhere, probably attached to some poor wolf)

This thing is so ugly (and it's only polished steel, nothing else - practically about as attractive as dental braces) that it should be thrown in the bottom of Stockholm harbour - or she should give it to CP's Snakey on the condition that this is the only tiara she will ever wear.

It also comes with a hair comb that you can probably use as a shoehorn or something similar. I refuse to believe this is the best that some royal palace dungeon has to offer. Either Victoria has spent so much time around wonderful, breathtaking jewelry that it has made her blind, or she has the worst taste ever.

Thanks for starting this thread  Star and let's see what will be collected here  Grin

I'm indifferent to Vics tiara. It mirrors her chin line.

Princess Astrid got some strange pieces:
looking plastic

but this is seriously ugly in my eyes

That tiara Victoria is wearing - is it polished steel? Polished steel used to be very expensive and sought after in the late 1800's, and it could be a family heir loom. It's not beautiful for sure! It's also very small. But it may be very old and may have belonged to someone Victoria is directly related to.

And can you believe Harold had that made for her?  What was he thinking?

At least it can be worn without the center stone and she has other stones she can change it out with  Smiley I guess that's a good thing

I love Auntie Astrid's winged thingie. She looks like she's receiving communications from deep space, and, what's more, like she has a sense of humor about it all.

Looks like Star Wars, Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica inspired some of these tiaras.  Tongue

I read somewhere that Astrid told her children that she was able to pick up American radio with one "wing" and Russian with the other.  I love her sense of humor--she's one of the few royals with whom I think I would like to hang out!

This thing is not only ugly, but it doesn't suit Vic's face and pointy chin... Nerves

I wonder if the middle parting of her hair also contributes to the whole "length" (or extra length, even).
The side part she sports in the other thread (the one during her blitz German visit), seems to smooth out her face.

She should probably try a (1) side part before the (2) whole comb-back or the (3) middle-part.
The middle part is the worst of all three possibilities, imho. It's like a straight line pointing directly to the bottom of the chin. And in this case, pointing directly at both the end of the tiara and the chin.

She looks like a two-arrow line.
