It's great how Mathilde blends in with Mrs Buedenbender and doesn't try to outshine her.

On December 15, 2023, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium visited the exhibition "Rose, Rose, Rose à mes yeux" at the Mu.ZEE Museum in Ostend. James Ensor (1860 – 1949) was a Belgian painter and printmaker. In 2024, it will be 75 years since the passing of James Ensor.

I think there should be a moratorium on the wearing of those cape thingies by the various royal women for a while. I am really over them, and this pale green number of Matilde‘s is particularly egregious in my opinion.

Incidentally, she is looking more mumsy every day, but that’s really OK considering the age of her children and her role as queen. I think of all the Queen’s she is aging with the most grace and dignity, and the exquisite manners that her daughter Elizabeth’s exhibits are a credit to her, I think.
