Good Queen Til is doing another one of her pre-birthday events, this time in the Province of Liege and in the company of children, parents and support workers from Les Foyers Saint Marie, a service working with at risk families. These walks and cycle rides are a way for Til to meet Belgians while sharing the physical and mental health benefits of exercise outdoors

I feel sorry for Charles, really. Not because he had to meet these two of course, but his schedule was totally murderous. Phil and Mathilde have become one my favourite royal families (and I used to skip the thread because they were so boring).

Good King Phil was at work today, meeting the Prime Minister and swearing in Mrs Kattrin Jardin, judge at the Constitutional Court, in the presence of the Belgian PM. Belgian RF's instagram even includes some basic info on the formation of the judges of the constitutional court (tenure, language groups, etc) which is nice.

Queen Mathilde led the fourth of her walks/rides to celebrate the benefits of physical exercise ahead of her 50th birthday. For some reason, she wore a short sleeved rain coat. I did not know such things existed and I am massively unconvinced they need to.

The walk took part in the Brussels region and involved participants from Lazare Belgique (a social housing project for homeless young people), Live & Grow (who work with teenagers and adults with learning disabilities) and Esseghem Medical Home.

I'm trying to think of a less-practical item of clothing than a short-sleeved raincoat, but I cannot.

An umbrella with air holes? Open toed Wellington boots?

It's a very silly coat on a usually sensible lady

It's even worse than that silly hat Eugenie wore (to Ascot?) that had a brim, and then a big gap, and then the crown of the hat.  I guess we should be thankful she wore it properly, instead of "shrobing" it? Just trying to find some positive in it!
