Here's an interview, in German, with Sarah's mother.  The interview is at Sarah's parents huuuuge house (given by the Sultan probably) and has videos and pictures from Sarah's childhood and on. And an appearance by Sarah towards the end.  Sarah definitely has the "IT" factor.

There seems to be a blockage of info on the latest ex wife of the Sultan.  I'd like to know how she's doing and how often she sees her kids.

I see where Sarah gets some of her ladylike and gentle qualities from.  I hope she is the only wife if the CP.

Brunei's sultan to implement Sharia penal code

A new criminal law that could include penalties like amputation for theft and stoning for adultery will be enforced for Muslims in Brunei in six months, its ruling sultan announced.

Brunei's Shariah Islamic court had previously handled mainly family-related disputes. The sultan has been hoping to implement the new law for years to bolster the influence of Islam in the tiny, oil-rich monarchy on Southeast Asia's Borneo island.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah said the Shariah Penal Code should be regarded as a form of "special guidance" from God and would be "part of the great history" of Brunei.

"By the grace of Allah, with the coming into effect of this legislation, our duty to Allah is therefore being fulfilled," the sultan said at a legal conference in Brunei's capital.

Sultan of Brunei introduces tough Islamic laws
http://www.channelnewsasi...tan-of-brunei/856914.html <-- More here

Quote
The Sultan of Brunei introduced tough Sharia-law punishments on Tuesday including death by stoning for crimes such as adultery, hailing what he called a "historic" step toward Islamic orthodoxy for his country.

Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah -- one of the world's wealthiest men -- said a new Sharia Penal Code in the works for years was officially introduced on Tuesday in the tiny, oil-flush sultanate and would be phased in beginning in six months.

Based on individual cases, punishments could include stoning to death for adultery, severing of limbs for theft, and flogging for violations ranging from abortion to alcohol consumption, according to a copy of the code.

The code applies only to Muslims.

"By the grace of Allah, with the coming into effect of this legislation, our duty to Allah is therefore being fulfilled," the sultan, 67, said in a speech.

An absolute monarch whose family has tightly controlled the oil-rich country of 400,000 for six centuries, the sultan first called in 1996 for the introduction of Sharia criminal punishments.

The sultan already imposes a relatively conservative brand of Islam on his subjects, compared to Brunei's Southeast Asian Muslim neighbours, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Brunei bans the sale and public consumption of alcohol and closely restricts other religions.

But Sharia has been a rare point of contention in a land where the sultan's word is unquestioned, with many Bruneians quietly grumbling that the concept is out of step with the affluent country's laid-back ethnic Malay society.

"These rights-abusing policies are a good indication of why modern democracy and the right of people to participate in their government is a much better idea than anachronistic absolute monarchy," said Phil Robertson, deputy Asia director for Human Rights Watch.

The situation shows that "respect for basic civil and political rights is near zero in Brunei," he added.

The monarch himself has acknowledged concerns over Sharia in recent years as the code was being drafted.

Brunei's Mufti Awang Abdul Aziz, the country's top Islamic scholar, told Tuesday's conference that the Shariah law ‘guarantees justice for everyone and safeguards their well-being.’
‘Let us not just look at the hand-cutting or the stoning or the caning per se, but let us also look at the conditions governing them,’ Awang said. ‘It is not indiscriminate cutting or stoning or caning. There are conditions and there are methods that are just and fair.’

The Brunei royal women do have some absolutely gorgeous jewels, but IMO, they always appear so gaudily worn.  I think it has to do with the fact that they wear them over such ornate fabrics.  It's a lot of pattern and shine all at once.  The bride in the above photo is so pretty, but those emeralds and diamonds clash too much with that beautiful and ornate fabric underneath.

"The super-rich ruler who stones gays, now bans Christmas: Sultan of Brunei threatens Muslims who celebrate it with up to five years in prison while Christians must keep theirs secret"
http://www.dailymail.co.u...ations-warned-jailed.html

* Christmas trees, carols and even Santa hats are off in the Borneo nation
* Muslims caught celebrating are threatened with up to five years in prison
* The nation's non-Muslims are allowed to celebrate in their communities
* But revealing their celebrations to Muslims would also lead to jail time
* In 2014 the country introduced an anti-gay Sharia Penal Code, which includes the execution of any Muslim for sodomy

The couple whose wedding photo is shown above recently had a baby girl.

I just had to post because she is adorable.

By the command of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu?izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Office of His Majesty yesterday announced that the monarch?s newborn granddaughter has been named Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Muthee?ah Raayatul Bolqiah. His Majesty?s granddaughter was born at 1.09pm on March 2, 2016 to His Royal Highness Prince ?Abdul Malik and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Raabi?atul ?Adawiyyah. His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha expressed their gratitude to all those involved during the delivery of the monarch?s granddaughter, and for the messages of congratulations received following the royal birth

My understanding is that her actual name is Muthee'ah.
