To me it looks like one pair of diamond hoop earrings with changeable pendants, if it's true then she could get different look from same piece by changing the pendant into different style ones. Save money.

Right, I realize that and definitely agree that it's a nifty idea. But...the same stone? Another green amethyst? Seems like gratuitous spending to me. But who am I kidding, it's Waity.

The oval ones look more like aquamarine (they look very light blue in my monitor), to me..and if it's true then definitely different stone.

Ah, I see. All of the fashion and jewelry websites identify them both as green amethysts, which is why I brought it up in the first place!

Why did Waity wear these earrings to a reception at Buckingham Palace?

I kind of like them but they seem better for casual wear like jeans and a sweater.
I like the red dress she wore and I think she should have worn a necklace. Maybe even pearls. The Windsor women are known for their pearls. Diana wore them all the time and they are so feminine and soft. Waity really needs a softer look.

A double strand would be nice.

She could have worn her Annoushka pearls

I think the earrings are ok.
In general, my problems with her go far deeper than what she wears.

She should just wear the gold one on her right hand, especially now that she has the eternity band.  Lots of sects of Christianity wear a wedding ring on the right hand...if she wants to explain it she can say its a nod to diversity, or something.

I wouldn't wear anything else with Big Blue.  The wedding band and the eternity band look uncomfortable with it and are basically smashed beneath it, anyway.  I would be worried about scratching up the gold...with all that flopping!

My MIL is Dutch and has always worn her wedding band on her right hand. I wear mine on my right hand as a nod to hubbies heritage.

Emma Rose, I too thought it would have been nice for her to wear pearls at the evening reception at Buckingham Palace.  The Queen wore a pretty blue dress with a sapphire/diamond brooch. The guests were all dressed very nicely.  I thought the red dress Kate wore was too casual for an evening reception at the Palace, especially since it was formerly seen at such a high profile day event as the Thames celebrations.

This is one thing about Kate I don't understand.  Most commoners, even those who know nothing about royalty, would dress up as best as they could for such a reception, if they were invited to Buckingham Palace. Most people would be thrilled and would want to wear the best of what they had.  Not everyone has diamonds, but pearls can take a person anywhere and would have dressed up the outfit she wore.  It's almost as if she looks at her watch and thinks, time to go, better grab something from the closet and then just puts on whatever is hanging there & adds a pair of earings.  She didn't make any attempt to dress up at all.  But when she makes an appearance at a film premier, she'll wear a fancy dress, shoes, the whole thing.  I wonder how much influence, if any, William is when it comes to her clothing choices.
