I wonder if she will be wearing any amber on this trip to poland: necklace, earrings, bracelet.

For example:

Is amber important to Poland?

Native gemstone.  Many different colors. Depending on how it is polished, it can look like fire within.
It takes on skin temperature, like pearls do.

Maybe the pink stones are a push present for Charlotte.

I like the setting, but I think the pendant needs a more substantial chain.

Kate got herself KiKis earrings for Charlotte. She got herself the eternity band for George. William got her a teddy bear.

New ruby(maybe) pendant.

New ruby(maybe) earrings.

She cannot wear jewels well at all.

Am I the only person in the world that absolutely hates the design/setting?  I hate the engagement ring too, always have (I also hated it when Diana had it, this is not personal to Kate).  I find the design so underwhelming and cheap looking.  Yuck.

Looks like something you would find in the mark down case at KMart. This type of setting is ugly, it screams 80's. It didn't look good back then and it doesn't look good now.

I think the "oval stone surrounded by diamonds" has been around for ages (at least several hundred years) and it is a very classic setting. Actually most of the classic jewellery settings involve a stone of certain shape (oval, pear, marquise, round, square etc.) surrounded by either one row or several rows of diamonds. I'd think in the 1980s people liked overly large costume jewellery and weird modern designs.

I don't like the mixing of white gold and yellow gold and I do think the setting could be more delicate (which is why Kate's jewellery probably looks dated) but other than that, I don't know what kind of jewellery designs would be considered beautiful these days.

This?

Oh, and those pearls are butt-ugly!  Tongue I wonder if they're real. She seems to like them a lot though for whatever reason.

I think it's yellow amber, and thus a present she's wearing.

Admittedly, there are nicer and more modern settings for amber jewellery ... this one is, well, suited for 75+ year old ladies.

But I do sincerely hope that she hasn't chosen that set herself and is only trying to be nice.

I think i saw it somewhere on another thread.  They were gifted amber,  but this is not what was given to them. I couldn't find it but heres a link to the gifts: http://thenews.pl/1/11/Ar...-gifted-to-British-royals

I'm assuming she picked it out herself before the trip.

Well, that proves one thing: there IS modern amber jewellery, because that necklace with the huge bauble is indeed nice and would look good with e.g. a simple white blouse and jeans, or some other reduced outfit that would showcase the necklace as statement piece (like her white arrival outfit).
So much nicer than what she actually wears today.
Thanks for the link, Eliza.

And it proves maybe also that her own taste in jewels is ... ehm ... questionable.

I'm not a fan of the new ring. Don't like the mixing of metals.
