I'm a bit jealous of all the fun sports events he gets to go to! They're a great intro to royal outings though - something fun and engaging where he can get used to the crowds, dressing properly, etc. He seems like a sweet kid and hopefully it was a fun day! I'd love to see him and Charlotte at a women's Euro match this summer too.

After I saw the mystery man was Will, I was surprised he gave two kisses to Kate…that’s usually reserved for someone you haven’t seen in a while, not someone you woke up with that morning. But hey two kisses better than none!
That stood out to me as well.

George must play tennis to understand the game as he does. It’s a great sport. Yes! I thought it was awfully “continental” for SW19! 😹

Is the runner-up usually left out afterwards?

Is the runner-up usually left out afterwards? Yes, runner up usually heads back to the locker room after the trophy presentation, does press and then usually goes back to the hotel to get ready for the next tournament (or go home for a break, depending on where in the calendar the tournament takes place--North American swing starts this week, so Nick will maybe go home for a couple days, or just head straight to the US to begin hard court preparations). Winner usually goes back to see their name added to the board, do press and at Wimbledon, usually into the club lounge for meet and greet with dignitaries and then walks across the walkway to wave to fans. Different tournaments have different traditions but usually the runner-up is finished after the trophy ceremony and press obligations are done. Also, fun fact, but the players don't actually get to keep the big trophy, but instead are given a small version to take home! It was hard to find a photo that had both in one, but this is Roger Federer holding the trophy and his wife Mirka with the one they actually get to take home. Out of the 4 majors, only the US Open gives a same-size replica!

Nice to see George as a tennis fan. On a side note I had had thought children weren’t allowed in the Royal Box, I vaguely remember there being some big upset when The Duchess of Kent wanted to bring a child to the royal box for charity or some good causes and was refused. Good to see they’ve changed (or apologies if I was making it all up!)

Royal children are allowed e.g. Diana regularly took William to Wimbledon.
The Duchess of Kent wanted to take a child from a charity she worked with - and didn't tell Wimbledon that she wanted to do so. She assumed she could simply turn up with a non-royal child and she couldn't.

Oh hey, how very elitists in a sense, but glad George got to watch the tennis bet he loved it! He is clearly a fan!

That is quite sad and elitist that it wasn’t allowed.

That is quite sad and elitist that it wasn’t allowed. I think the issue was they weren't told in advance - that she simply turned up with the child. Had she checked properly they may very well have accommodated the child but they do have rules about children in the royal box such as age limits (other than William and George I have never seen anyone there under 18 ... I don't even remember Diana taking Harry, only William.) I think he looked great and we do know he likes to dress like his father. He wore a suit and tie to events for the Jubilee and he won't be missing those in future either so I would expect him to attend annually now. I would love to see him go to the cricket but since Philip's retirement the royals have stopped going. The Queen used to go to one day of the Lords Test and meet the players and then she started hosting a reception for both teams at BP but now they don't even get that recognition. Philip is the only one who actually enjoyed England's (yes I mean England and not Britain's) summer sport. Why I find that sad is that one of the major London properties owned by The Duchy of Cornwall is The Oval Cricket Ground ... the second ground in London and the Duke of Cornwall is Patron of Surrey County Cricket Club which calls The Oval home while the monarch is always the Patron of the Middlesex Cricket Club which has as its home ground Lords. Surrey's emblem is the Prince of Wales feathers. I would thus like to see William take George to The Oval at least as one day both of them will have a sizeable percentage of their income from that ground. It is where Charles and Camilla went for the Jubilee Big Lunch on the final day of the Jubilee celebrations.

Thanks Luvcharles, I was wondering if it was merely a case of her just showing up and literally not having an available seat for the child. Nothing more nefarious than that. I’ve heard the heat was terrible, I’m sure he wasn’t comfortable. He looked more stiff, formal, and uncomfortable than even William was. (He never looked distressed) But, he’s at an age where he could be getting quite vocal about his own clothing choices. Maybe he insisted, and learned a lesson. Parents are all familiar with children not listening to best advice regarding hats, gloves, coats, etc. no matter how much we tell them their choice might not be the best idea.
