William's smile and face/head shape. He is adorable and looks to be a very happy fellow. Taken at the beach in Norfolk? They sure do treasure that place.

Love the huge smile 😃 and that he’s a good mix of both Windsor and Middleton.  He’s normally a bit reticent but he looks very comfortable here.  I agree that photo was taken in Norfolk and I seriously hope they enjoy every moment of their time there as a family.  So many changes will happen in the next few years - new home, schools, changing responsibilities within the monarchy.  It’s good they have a stable place to go and be able to look back at the good times spent there.

Happy birthday, Prince George 🎂

He's looking so much more grown up. Which is inevitable but kind of sad too . . . Love that wide smile.

He does look like a happy little fellow.  Suddenly he looks so grown up, time flies.

He looks older and slimmer in the face than he did at Wimbledon!  Cannot believe he's 9 already!

Poor thing, lol. William has a lot of great qualities but I don’t think his smile is one of them.

George is certainly still a cutie though. Growing up very quickly!

How can a child’s smile not be regarded as adorable? Give him time…. Those teeth will settle ❤️

Of course, the child is cute, like all kids are. But this is the most uninteresting photo. I can only assume that’s how they want it. My nephews birthday was last week and the photos that were sent out were really interesting and vibrant. Showed him with his beautiful cake, in a really fun shirt with sharks…another with him looking side eyes at the camera…showcasing his personality.

George is 9 tomorrow. Time flies. New pic.

He's a nice looking young boy.  I wonder if that's the Norfolk beach behind him?  It's an OK photograph but like others, I'm in favor of seeing some background or activity.  (Like Camilla had her flowers.)

Looks like he's had a haircut too which I always like to see 😉

I’m sure there are photos of the birthday party in existence- but this family has never shared pics from private spaces have they? I think it is their policy. Your nephew’s photos were being shared with family - not the world. It’s easy to forget we AREN’T family! 😹 George’s personality is shining through in any case.

You’re right, Hester. I think pretty much all the birthday portraits have been rather bland with just the child in focus. I think they try to stay as private as possible, which I can respect.

I guess they might avoid objects and backgrounds to reduce the risk of claims they are merching, or displaying too much privilege…

I am sure there will be many photos of George such as you describe - shared with family and friends - but for the general public there are a different style of photo released. The Queen's photo of George for his birthday is one we have all seen, from the Jubilee. I suspect that there are many more of The Queen with George taken that day, inside the palace, but for the family and not the public. Remember the cute one released after Philip died of George with his great-grandfather in the carriage at Sandringham. They do take those photos but they don't release them to the public.
