He just turned 11 years old, still a (well protected child IMO). His mother took a nice picture of him, he was well dressed and smiled into the camera.
That's all, I wouldn't speculate too much into such a picture, at least not of a child (but, that's just me)

I’m with you. He’s just a child and is unlikely to be theorizing.

Yup. One of my little grandoys is George's age and his ``job'' is to be a child, to discover the wonderful world around him and figure out what he likes to do, what he's good at, how to get along with people, and how to be good and kind. The rest will take care of itself in time, I'm pretty sure, and it's the same for George as well.

He looks so mature in this photo. He's smiling but yet there's a certain reserve ... Quite a change, imo, from the usual big smile/laugh & casual clothes that the Waleses usually release. I’ve noticed, too, that he’s becoming guarded. Which I think is a good thing, that he’s becoming more and more conscious of what his destiny is. And I think he’s younger than William when W started to become guarded. Kate's illness, and Charles' too, might something to do with the new maturity we see in him. We also don't know what he may have seen online earlier this year when those ridiculous conspiracies were spreading about his mother. I can imagine him being protective of his younger siblings, almost like a third parent in these difficult times. If William was guarded with the media and the public during the 90s without social media, i fear George will only become even more guarded and protective than his father. He resembles Sarah Chatto …

I can't believe this, he is much too young! Maybe the paper exaggerated and George only said that he would like to learn to fly when he is of age.

One of my Caspers, as a child, wanted to become a pilot. The state owned aeroclub here offers free complete courses for youngsters up to 23 yo. Starting age for flying lessons is 15, one can go through the theoretical part before. For me it’s normal, having read a bit about regulations in UK. If he’s passionate for it, go for it.

According to the Aero Club "anyone of any age can learn to fly". https://www.wlac.co.uk/learn-to-fly/Other aero clubs I looked at do restrict things to 14+ as that's the age your hours start to count towards getting your license. Hopefully the press is exaggerating and this was nothing more than a back to school treat. IMO he's too young and considering he's in school 6 days a week he doesn't have time for regular lessons. At this age a handful of "taster flights" a year to support his interest would be perfectly fine followed by actual lessons age an older age. With current school commitments and very likely boarding school from 2026 (age 13) proper/regular lessons will surely have to wait a few years.

He seems way too young for this. If there is an age requirement and he's bypassing it, that's not good optics.

The press is exaggerating is my guess. He's probably in love with flying like lots of kids and as a child of privilege gets the opportunity to take the wheel under supervision. Dad flies and he's been around helicopters his whole life. A nothing story in my eyes.

I agree. George is not going to be permitted to obtain a pilot's license for many years. This sounds like it was a birthday present for George.

There’s no age limit to start flying with an instructor. The counter of flying hours can only be set when he’s fourteen.

IIRC William never did log enough hours to be a solo pilot (he was a co pilot) so maybe getting George started young is his way of ensuring George exceeds him?
