She's been wearing hats that have a look of a tiara, coronet or bandeau for the past year and a half, and now, this sparkly headband. I think it's done to remind the public of her future role.

I agree, FC, the hat looks much better with an updo. But I don't expect an updo on Christmas morning from a mom of three.
