I have got a TREAT for you today.

The link below will take you to my Google document location where you can see a Spanish comic book of the story of Fabiola/Baudouin.  I am working on getting the English translation.

Enjoy!

Great finding lellobeetle  It's like a sweet Fabiola 101. The fact that her brother wrote her a waltz is also sweet. A  Star in 24 hours (It seems that I already gave you one today  Sweating )

One of the most poignant moments surrounding the funeral of Baudouin was when his body was transferred from Laeken to the palace at Brussels, the cortege stopped at the Colonne du Congrès, repose le Soldat inconnu (monument of the unknown soldier). The royal family listens as the Brabant is played. When the queen is getting back into the vehicle, someone shouted, “Courage Madame la Reine!”  And, she did display deep courage and strength during all the events of the funeral and oath of Albert II.

I hope all is well with Fabiola. IIRC she was last seen in public in July and it was said that cold weather takes a toll on her body.

Well, I had heard rumors about this but it's official...

Dowager Queen Fabiola has given up her position as high patron as the Queen Elizabeth classical music competition after 50 years. Queen Fabiola’s role as high patron will be taken on be Queen Mathilde

It has been so interesting to learn about her and I know her reunion with Baudouin will be awesome! (hopefully anytime soon but when it is meant to be)
Is there any proof of what kind of relationship she has with Mathilde?

Of course Philippe is like a son to her.

She is also very close to Mathilde, which is lovely.

So glad of the precious relationship they appear to have. She must feel confident in relinquishing her patronages to her

I love that she wore white for the King's funeral.

Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother did that when she and George VI went to Paris in 1939(?).  Her mother had recently died and Hartnell did not want to redo all of her tour clothes in black.  So he did research and found that in the medieval times, white was a color of royal morning.  Thus all of her clothes for that tour were white.
