I may be making it up, but I think Benedikte met Richard and they fell in love but had to wait to marry him until Margrethe got married - thus some speculating that Marge and Henri was an arranged couple. AM was allowed to marry early because he was a proper royal Whistle

I have a hard time believing Henrik and Daisy were an arranged couple. If someone was going to go through the trouble of arranging a marriage for a future queen, I think they would have picked someone more high-born than a French nobleman. Plus, have you seen the looks those two were giving each other in their early photos together? No way!

My mother has always said that the Swedish royal family tried to set up Desirée, the older sister of Carl Gustaf, with Constantine, but that didn't happen. She read all the royal magazines in her youth so she should be well informed.

She also said that Ingrid and Frederik were very much against the marriage between AM and Constantine. They thought she was far too young and knew how unstable it was in Greece.

Interesting article and topic. If it's true AM and Constantine were pushed together, it totally goes against stories Constantine has told many times, which I've seen video of.

In the second episode of the series the Father-in-Law of Europe, there's discussion of many of the marriages discussed in this topic. You can see footage from engagements and weddings. Note, there are sporadic problems with the audio track and there are short gaps of silence, but just hang in there and in a bit, the audio returns.

I hope you all find this interesting. Starting around 20 minutes in and lasting to the end, it is quite interesting.

Not entirely sure how much of the "the xyz royal family tried to set up Princess ABC to marry crown prince 123" is really true, or a imagination of the press (now and then). The media and the public have always tried to match a princess with a prince and they looked around for nice-looking matches: WA and ML, William and Madde etc. I really doubt that apart from a fleeting idea, that was ever really a plan.
Of course in the sixties this was still a bit different, but again, Marge and Harald? Or Bene and Harald? That sounds more like yellow press material.
Certainly there was a lot of match-making going on, as the royals have always lived a rather sheltered and secluded life and wouldn't likely meet their life partner standing in line at the cashiers of the grocery store. (as it is they nowadays meet them at the Gym, a bar, or pick them out from favorite TV Programmes)
I do think that Frederica pushed her son to get married: Denmark was strong, AM was cute and very royal, age of the couple was ok, and they were in love. Greece needed a strong lead, a secure monarchy and a settled future and a beautiful young royal couple with a lovely wedding would go a long way in making people quite enamoured with a monarchy (heck worked in GB !) so hurrah and check all points.

In both the royal biographies I’ve read and some other articles, they only stated that Frederika was pushing Constantine to marry AM. He notoriously wanted to marry a famous Greek actress but Frederika vetoed it, and as soon as he showed an interest in AM she pushed hard for the marriage to happen.

Frederik and Ingrid were concerned because AM was so young, but eventually agreed to allow the marriage because AM was in love with Constantine, on the condition that they’d marry after she turned 18.

With regards to Harald, an unofficial biography I’ve read (so not sure about the accuracy of the info) said that Olaf and Frederika wanted Harald and Irene (youngest sister to Sofia and Constantine) to marry and for some reason she was certain that the marriage would happen, and was madly in love with Harald, which is why she was devastated when he announced his engagement to Sonja.
And apparently she took it so hard that she never wanted to marry and have a family with someone else.
