Thanks, friends. It's been reported to the school and the law. There were two friends in the hall who heard the attack, though the door to the dorm room that had just slammed and automatically locked, so they were not able to enter. Psycho then lunged across the room at Juliet and grabbed her by the throat. The RA Dorm authority heard the psycho screaming from the room right above them. "Dr" Juliet has always been 'the mother'/problem solver/designated driver of all her friends. Some people are just too damaged to help. She's a bit PTSD'ed by the incident. The school has set her up with a therapist there at the school to talk about it. It's been quite a year....No graduation, no prom, few in person classes in either senior year or freshman. Then she got the bug basically 5 minutes after I left her off in February, which meant 17 days in quarantine. Now this 5 minutes before finals. I go get her 5/17...not soon enough....

Praying for you, Duchess, that you can be strong for her and also find a way to work through and process your own emotions in this situation.

Ooh my what a story! Fortunately Juliet could escape, by using her skills. It sounds like a real crazy end / climax to a real crazy year. Wishing you all the best!!

Wow - that is crazy. I hope your daughter recovers from this very frightening experience, and I wish you peace of mind for her.

Her response to it all was "Mom, I want to coach MMA this summer while I'm home". She called her wonderful long time MMA coach to thank him for teaching her that which saved her, and asked to come coach at the dojo. This makes me very happy as the more time you spend at practice in any sport, whether demonstrating or taking the class, the stronger and faster you get. It's funny, I had heard a couple of sayings on the subject such as this that I didn't understand until now "Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the head. After that, whether you get up or not is up to you". You practice what could happen, but when it really happens, it's a whole other gear. She described it as psycho grabbed her by the windpipe and in just a few seconds Juliet was seeing spots and just punched psycho in the windpipe as she was going to die. Thanks everyone for your good wishes for Juliet. Her story scared the ever living sh*t out of me, just imagining how it could have easily ended. I (almost ) jokingly said, dont be surprised if you come out the the dorm door and find me waiting in the car outside for the next 3 weeks.
And yes, she is still a figure skater! 5'3"

Hello, dishers! I know this day, May 1st, is celebrated for workers fights and rights all around the world but, this year, as greek-orthodox we celebrate Holy Saturday and tomorrow we have Easter!!!!!!! I'm very very happy, although I won't celebrate with my parents for 2nd year in a row, putting aside this, I'm very very happy. I absolutely love Easter, its strong symbolism, the hope, the concept of Jesus' ressurection... and the food. You may know that here we put a lamb (less often a goat) on a skewer (I googled this, I hope it is correct) which is absolutely my favourite food, ever I also woke up very early this morning to make tzatziki!!!!! I don't know how interesting this info may be for you (probably not interesting at all ) but I'm in a bad mood for a long time and today I want to share my happiness with you! So, happy Easter from Greece, with love, and may next year we get to celebrate with our loved ones, whatever we want to celebrate!

Well happy easter to all of our orthodox friends.
Duchess: I am glad your daughter is fine and I am glad she had the tools to fight. I don't think she will however get over her "helpers syndrome" - which is a character trait, that usually is a very fine one. I do think however she wll learn to pick her cases, she is going to be a medical doctor, so she will have to learn to accept that some cases are desperate and will fail, she will certainly learn to deal with this and keep her own barriers. I also applaud her for reporting it. Not only for the safety of other less defensive people, but also (and this could help Juliet to come to terms with something she might see as a failure to help her friend or even a betrayal to a person in need) her friend quite obviously needs a lot more help and medication than she is currently getting. Living with a psychotic disease is a horrible, accepting it takes so much strenght and also time. Most patients are extremely weary of doctors and medications, have tremendous trust problems, which sadly makes it so difficult to get them to accept treatment. Plus, since hardly any condition is excatly the same as another, many times patients need to try out different medications and approaches to find out what i working well for them individually. But on the road to awell balanced well being they invaritably encounter oh so many painful failures as meds or treatments fail or have even counterproductive reactions. Juliet, reporting the incident, forced her friend to confront the fact, that her medication is not working, and forced others (authorities, her friend's family etc) to accept and enforce treatment. Not reporting it, would have been a well-meant but ill-judged enabling of sliding further into a merciless pit of mental disease. Juliet did her friend good.
