Charles,  despite the poor decisions he made in regards to his first marriage,  has always understood what it meant to be "royal", and he has never shied away from his duties.  It's for that reason alone that I respect him.

Secret I know I'm in the minority but I think the socks are very childish. Not to mention that they don't match with the shoes. He tries too much and that makes it looking like it's just for PR which makes it fake. JMO

It doesn't bother me that much because this is more of a fun engagement for him-he's not meeting with a foreign politician that he has to make a deal with or impress-I see it as a cute sign of patriotism as he meets with a fellow Commonwealth partner.

I agree.  It also tells me he has a personality and doesn't mind looking a bit eccentric.

Um, he is meeting his future Head of State and the representative of his current Head of State. A rather relaxed engagement for sure because as you state it's not about deals or decisions but a wonderful anniversary. But a fun engagement? I don't think so.
