The fact that both parents cancelled appointments and that Bernhard's royal duties are on hold IMO should not be overrated. The diagnose, even if treatments promise to be effective is still a huge shock. I can very well understand that nothing else but sorting the entire thing out and concentrating on their son and his little family is of the utmost importance to them, canceling out anything else. Meeting with charities or opening some event just isn't so imperative, but I assume, that in a short while when they have gathered enough information to deal with the disease, they will likely proceed with their daily work.
Every person responds somewhat differently to treatment, every disease is somewhat unique. I hope that Bernhard and his family will find his treatment effective and as little exhaustive as possible and I wish them all a speedy recovery.

To all posters with first hand experience:  Hug cancer in any form is a bitch. I am very glad to hear most of you have come out of the battle victorious. Salute!

I'm hoping that Bernhard will be able to make a full and complete recovery.

How awful.  He's so young.  This family has been through so much.  First, Anita's brain tumor, then Friso's accident and death, and now this.  My heart goes out to them.

Just hope he doesn't push himself; no matter what, he's gonna need plenty of rest to get through treatments.

The goverment information service has just confirmed that the health of Prince Bernhard is doing better.

The treatment is recently completed and is well catching on his doctors said.

Prince Bernhard feels well and is grateful for the compassion that he has received. It give him a lot of positive energy.

He also expresses his appreciation for the reluctance of the media in this difficult period.

I didn't know Tim Taylor had it. So it is curable?

Non Hogkins Lymphoma is tougher to beat.  Hodgkins usually does well.  My mom died from Non Hodgkins.  If he has that, he has a tough road of chemo ahead.

So glad to know that he's doing better. The DRF has needed a bit of cheer lately.

There are photos of him and his wife at Kings Day.  Is she expecting or just wearing a trapeze coat to tease us?

It's good to see him out and about, though of course he's still so thin.
