Prince William is visiting the Together As One charity in Slough this morning. The charity works with young people to create positive social change in the community and teaches people how to resolve conflict.

Aik Saath – Together as One, in Slough. The project was established in response to gang violence between young people from Asian backgrounds in the 1990s and has evolved to work with all young people, regardless of their faith or background

The Prince of Wales takes part in a cooking lesson during his visit to Together as One, a charity dedicated to working with young people to create positive social change in the community that celebrates its 25th anniversary this February.

The Prince is viewing Aik Saath’s Global Grub programme. It received £5k grant from the NHS Innovation Fund and used it to convert a space in a local shopping centre into a kitchen. In the holidays young people are taught to cook healthy home-cooked meals from around the world.

It’s good for young people to see a man throw on an apron and cook. There is a message that sort of prevails that cooking is womens work (unless you are a high end chef). That being said, I wish there were boys, as well as girls, in that picture.

KP post

Together As One empowers young people to lead social change in their community, teaching invaluable life skills and tackling major issues like bullying, knife crime and racism.

The breadth of work here is huge, from volunteers helping young people with conflict resolution training, to the Global Grub cooking programme helping to equip those faced with the rising cost of living with the skills to make healthy, nutritious food on a tight budget.

The team here even raised money to provide clothes and meals for people experiencing homelessness in and around Slough.

Happy 25th anniversary @AikSaath and thank you for everything you do!

Do we really think he cooks? I love the idea of William and Kate in the kitchen, making meals for their kids each day, but I just assumed they had a professional cook on hand to do that for them.

They do have a cook, she's Italian. But if I am remembering correctly we've seen pictures of Will and the kids baking Catherine a birthday cake. Also there is one from way back when he was on his gap year of Will cooking oatmeal for breakfast.

He says he mainly does breakfast and steaks, so he's not whipping up a five course dinner, but that's still cooking. Wonder if he likes to grill the steaks. PP may have taught him that.

They may have someone to help now, but Kate was always in the kitchen before she started upping her work schedule. In fact, we all used to mercilessly mock her on RD with the nicknames “chutney” and “chutters” for yearssss because apparently at one stage her favorite gift to give the royal family at Christmas was her homemade chutneys and that appeared to be all the work she ever did. Lol. (She was constantly showing up in public with band aids on her finger tips that were apparently as a result of the kitchen too)

Ahh the good old days.

Yes they cook. They talk about it every time they attend an event with food/cooking involved. Kate especially. They may still have a cook on hand as needed though.

If Catherine sold her chutney in one of the royal property's gift shops I would totally buy some up on our next trip. Out of a fondness for a gentler time and as a sorry it went haywire keep up the good work message.

Didn't she make a vegan or Thai food dinner for Meghan when she was still new to everyone? Was that the dinner at A1 when Meghan snuck off to take pics of George and Charlotte?
