Attending in his role as President of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, the Prince took the time to speak to fans before moving inside the Opera House, where he met representatives from the Academy before taking his seat in the front row to watch the ceremony.
Taking to the stage, the Prince joked “An actress I should probably call Granny,” as he referenced Dame Helen’s Oscar and BAFTA award-winning role in the The Queen.

Speaking after receiving the Fellowship, Dame Helen took the time to praise the royal:  ”A great honour – I’ve never met him before and he’s very sweet and charming. He’s great.”

The final award: Prince William and Jeremy Irons co-present the award to Dame Helen at the end of the evening

Quote
The Duke of Cambridge, who is the president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, was guest of honour at the 67th awards ceremony held at London’s Royal Opera House.

When he arrived just before the ceremony began, he was greeted by deafening screams from the assembled fans.

Not even Leonardo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt and his partner Angelina Jolie had been able to muster such an eager reception.

But rather than wilt under the pressure, Prince William embraced the limelight.

While the assembled A-list nominees waited inside, he spent ten minutes working the red carpet crowd, shaking hands like a Hollywood veteran.

He spent several minutes talking to one enthusiastic fan as his bodyguards waited patiently, and happily posed for a photo with another.

I think it's just plain weird that his wife isn't at this function with him.  This new trend is suspicious that all is not right in the House of Cambridge.....

Gosh what can we say with this,  rubbish speech, waving whilst the woman is speaking to him, walking in front of her, sitting down before the ladies are seated.  His manners truly are appalling.  He's not even looking at Tinie when he gets the hand slap  not to mention his obsession with his flies. i'll give him a well done on managing to avoid staring at the woman on his left's overflow...

Wearing the same dinner suit again,  is that a new watch he's got?

Ah, I finally get it now.  Waity is left home because Willy wants ALL OF THE ATTENTION.  That's what he learned from his parent's legacies.

^ I believe they are BAFTA staff.

In my opinion, William is out of his depth when he goes to events like these.  He's not a celebrity, and it just feels strange when he tries to act like one.
