I am really glad that some of the various female royals are starting to address this issue. Previously, I think it was considered too gross for royal involvement. But perhaps they can bring more high-profile attention to this dreadful problem affecting women worldwide.

Silvia traditionally purchased the year's first Mayflower pin. Mayflower (Majblomman) is a non-profit organisation with the mission to decrease the impact of child poverty in Sweden

Great cause - but it is a bit ironic if you look at her daughter in law.

I think she looks really good. The PS effects have mostly gone and she is aging rather nicely.
She always had a good sense for fashion and the white evening dress is sublime.
She looks a bit Nancy Reagan-ish in those pix, does anyone thinks so too?

She always had a very very nice unintrusive style - she hits the nail on the head every time (well, nearly every time) she has a public appearance, even at the times where you don't like the dress it is IMO more a personal dislike of the dress - it is never a real fashion problem.
She is also in absolutely great shape and given her age this is even more astonishing. I am happy she stayed away from more PS.

Also on a less superficial note: I really like the causes she supports. She has really meaningful and interesting social causes and she follows through with them - and they are fitting, you would not once question "what is she doing there" - like we do with Max, Mary or Sofia (Sweden).

Silvia was made an honorary citizen of the city of Heidelberg (her home town) for her achievements and outstanding social commitment.
Mayor Eckart Würzner presented the city's highest award at a ceremony held in the Heidelberg Town Hall

I really like the style of that portrait of the queen. I think it may well stand the test of time.
