I'm not a very green fingered person, but this is a garden I would love to visit... apparently in the Thyme garden you walk along a path of herbs which releases the scent of lemon thyme and mint and all lovely things, which would be i think a wonderful experience.

Charles of course has ample resources available to him to create whatever he likes,  but the result is stunning.

I'd like to see the apple trees like this as well..

I wonder what William will do with Highgrove when he is Duke of Cornwall as Highgrove is owned by the Duchy and leased to Charles. Will William continue to allow Charles to lease the property or will he want it for himself? Will he continue what Charles has done or destroy it? Time will tell I suppose.

The gardens are gorgeous! I've seen video of a 'behind the scenes' on how the gardens work and it's amazing. I'll look for it and link to it as soon as I'm able.

Beautiful gardens.  On my bucket list of must sees.  I watched the video on this garden and what is done with the grey water from the house is amazing.  It is filtered through various plants and returns to a fresh, to a water pond.  He practices what he preaches.

Thanks for posting that link, Visenya. I've seen that doco.  It's excellent.

I'd love to see the Highgrove Gardens.  There are so many treasures there.  Those espaliered apple trees would be a wonderful sight, and very convenient to harvest.  I've tried espaliering apple trees.  It's fun.  The arch provides an excellent framework and a good angle for the job.  Oh to have the resources to garden on that scale!

i simply adore roses and cottages, and even if italian gardens are marvellous (but more majestic, with lots of statuaries and architecture in them) and i also like a lot french gardens, like provencal gardens, if i'd have to choose...english gardens all the way!!

I think if Highgrove is part of the Duchy of Cornwall, Wills will inherit once he is Prince of Wales. As King, Charles inherits the Duchy of Lancaster from his mum.

As for Highgrove, it was purchased by Charles in advance of his marriage, selected for its proximity to his mistress, Camilla. If Camilla survives Charles, Wills could allow her to live there for the rest of her life. Wills has spent so little time there since he left for university, I think there are only bitter memories for him. I wouldn't be surprised if he sold it eventually, or gave it to Harry or George.

Once Charles is King, I don't think he'd have use for it when there is Buck, Windsor, Sandringham and Balmoral to live in!

Highgrove can't be sold.

It was bought as part of the Duchy of Cornwall and that means that it can't be sold - it can be leased, as Charles does now but can't be sold.

William will become the 'owner' of Highgrove when he becomes Duke of Cornwall and the question then will be - will he still lease it to his father or decide to live there himself.  He does have many happy memories there and reportedly he and Kate enjoy time there now as well.

I think the intention is that when Charles becomes King he will continue to use Highgrove, as it has been his life's passion, and that William will be more the chatelaine of Sandringham. When William is King and George is Duke of Cornwall Highgrove will be George's country home in England - so two country homes with them alternating between the generations.

Back in the day it was always said that Highgrove would eventually go to Harry as William would have enough property coming his way to deal with. I agree that since it is part of he D of C holdings then that would transfer to William but am sure there'd be a way for Harry to get the property. As far as I am aware the boys enjoyed staying there in teenage years and inviting friends over to the disco built in the cellars! Harry also liked to "smoke" down there. Anyway we shall see….

Harry would be able to 'lease' Highgrove, as Charles does now, but he won't be able to inherit it. In hindsight they may be realising that they should have done what happened with Sandringham - buy it outright rather than as part of the Duchy. Had Charles done that then he could have left it to Harry.
