Seeing those recent photos of Lady Louise skiing made me wonder about the fact that almost every royal family in Europe is ardent about skiing. Certainly with the Nordic countries it makes sense -- my Norwegian cousins all claim to have been born with skis on their feet -- but the affection for skiing seems nearly universal. And I don't see any royals stumbling around on the bunny slopes. They all appear to be pretty good on skis. So I wonder where and when they learn? Skiing is a skill that seems to me at least to require more than an occasional weekend in the mountains. Are there places to ski in the UK? Where did Mary learn to ski? In Australia?
Obviously we won't see King Harald on skis any longer. But Sonja still skis. Does Daisy? What about the former Queen Beatrice? And has Charles given it up? (I can't quite imagine Cam on skis what with her bad back and all).
