Based on his recent work rate, I think Fred would pre-abdicate if he was allowed to

I bet Fred would be happy, if it were still the times of those overshadowing ministers like Richelieu and Mazarin doing the work for him.

Well Henri of Luxembourg might, if he had a more acceptable heir.

I can see Henri staying in his role for a number of years. He appears to be in good health and is early 60's. Gui seems a long way off being ready....

I think Henri has a good ten years left in him to rule, and MT seems to enjoy being grand duchess. Of all the royal houses, they seem to have the weakest succession plan.

I'd put an outside bet on C-G stepping down in the next few years.  A gut feeling rather than anything informed!

Let's hope that Gui gets it together in time and doesn't turn out like Fred II. Though I don't have much hope at the moment.

I could only see C-G abdicating, if a dramatical illness forces him too - which although I'm no fan of him, I still wouldn't wish him. This poor man has after all not only to endure that his daughter and not golden boy will succeed him, but after her, comes another girl.

I never thought about it, but you’re right. And a I bet he isn’t the only one in the “rather not” category.

Fred may be wanting to abdicate, but I guarantee you Mares won't let him. Even if it's only in some thirty plus years and even if she's than an old, toothless overbotoxed crownprincess she's going to drag him to the ceremony with her not so much botoxed hands.

Yes and no, they do have options, after The Odd Par, Félix and Claire are ready, they have both Amalia and Liam to offer to the nation. Not the same can be said about Guillaume and Stéphanie. I might be wrong but I don't expect any change (nor children), from them any time soon. Snare

I don't think Felix and Claire would want to be GD and such. They seem to be quite happy with the situation as it is now.

I agree with you about Guillaume and Steph. They're just off and I don't think they will ever have children.

However something will have to be done about the succession in the future.

What work?  Blink That's the funny thing, they are mostly about PR, marketing, opening things, cutting ribbons and that... is... it. Oh, sorry, read things at places. Smile, produce a new line of cute children, and he can't even do that.

You're right. But still I think they would be better at cutting the ribbons as well.

That's the funny thing about royals, no? Things do sort out by themselves, should they keep their marrige unconsumm----childless (sorry, I do think that  Roll Eyes), Félix and Claire would become GD.

I could also imagine that it be Gui/Pashmina and then Amalia straight ahead. Somehow I don't see Felix and Claire going for the title. He might renounce his rights for his daughter.

That might be, and we'll see in due time. Stéphanie is already 35, pregnancies and old age don't do well... for neither parties involved. But as I said before, Charlene got pregnant and that was something I didn't see as a possibility. I mean, I even got here to read you all dishing on that, I still remember some of the remarks, I was literally in tears...

If QM can hang on another 3 years, Christian would be 18 and Frodo can pre-abdicate then
