I think Harald, and once that happens, I will so be out of here. No way I want Mette Minus as a queen, it is bad enough that she's a crown princess.

I've got a personal dislike for king Harald (don't ask what he did THIS time...) so I'm hoping he will be the first one to step down. Sonja seems nice and she's a good, hard-working queen. It will be difficult for the royal family when she's no longer "in charge of the house" taking control of things and keeping an eye on people.

Mette Marit is a lost soul, if not a lost cause entirely. There's going to be drama and nervous breakdowns when she comes face-to-face with her new job. The massive workload of a full-time queen will not suit Mette Marit's delicate sensibilities. Whistle

I think all the able crown princes became kings already. If I was Harald or Marge I'd just try and hang in there. At least once they are gone, they don't have to watch the show anymore.  Halo

I'm torn between wanting Harald to hold onto that throne and live until 101 and wanting him to abdicate so Mor has to watch yet another Crown Princess get the 'big prize'.

Why do you think that the monarch of Norway will be the first sovereign to abdicate?

I think a combination of the age of Harald, the age of his heir, and the fact that Harald has never specifically pledged to reign for life (as Elizabeth and Margarethe have done).

That said, M-M's recent health news might have changed their plans.

Why doesn't Queen Elizabeth abdicate? She's 92, Charles, who has been waiting all his life, may never get to be King at this point. Let the younger generation take over. Follow the example of Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, and Japan, coming up. They still can't let go of the abdication crisis? It was 83 years ago, for heavens sake.

She took a vow to serve for life. It's been covered a few times I know that has always been her answer.

I sax yesterday an article or a video that says that Queen EII is showing signs of dementia and could be forced to abdicate soon. Can't find it now but it would be interesting to post it here.

I think such rumours are inevitable, true or not.

That still wouldn’t cause an abdication. Not in Britain. We would see another regency period.

Not good  with instructions, Tui,  Tongue  so have to ask: what did my favourite reigning king,  King Harald (King Jigme comes a close 2nd) do to raise your ire?  Long may he reign. Champagne
