I just came here to say i am so excited this thread can exist! I also like King Felipe's tie

OT: I love the black-and-white photo of F&L you use as the avatar. That's probably the best photo from yesterday. The tightly-held hands say it all.

Is it finally showing up??? I still see my old one despite trying to change it  Snare

Yup. It's up.  Yes

Here is a video of Felipe's meeting with the prime minister today and Boston.com picks it up (I don't remember this much interest in Spanish news here in the U.S.!):

http://www.boston.com/new...l8d0qahWtjsOUJ/video.html

The camera swings to the bookshelf. A picture of the whole family, with Leti and the girls, is there. Whew. I thought a divorce was coming... Sweating

Spaniards want new king to play greater role in politics -poll
https://uk.news.yahoo.com...oll-123248541.html#WSec5i

Quote
Most Spaniards want their new king, Felipe, to play a greater role in politics and build bridges between the country's divided parties and regions, a poll showed on Sunday.

Spain's monarchy has tried stay out of the intricacies of factional rivalries in recent years - though Felipe's father, King Juan Carlos, is widely credited with helping smooth the country's transition to democracy in the 1970s after the Francisco Franco dictatorship.

The poll in newspaper El Pais suggested three quarters of Spaniards thought Felipe, sworn in on Thursday after the abdication of his father, should personally push parties to reach agreements on Spain's problems if politicians failed to do so.

The photos at Felipe's new office:

He has also changed the portrait hanging behind his desk, it's Carlos III (imo and many other people's Wink one of Spain's best Kings, it was in his house before Thursday. Carmen Iglesias, member of the Royal Academy of History and former tutor of Felipe in History of Spain and the Bourbons said a few days earlier that he's one of Felipe's (and hers) favourite Kings. It's a XVIIIth century portrait by Anton Raphael Mengs.

More new stuff in his office: a replica of the 2010 World Cup trophy, a statue the winners of the Prince of Asturias Awards receive, a mobile phone and his laptop and a different edition of the Constitution.

It's official, Felipe's new coat of arms and banner. Felipe goes back to the historical crimson colour that JC didn't keep as Franco's used it for his banner.
