Bullfighting is an issue in Spain much like it was fox hunting in England and the support they still have from the Tories. Letizia and Felipe detest it but still has many supporters in Spain who claim it's a cultural issue (which is rubbish).
Bullfighting has been declining sharply in numbers and social acceptance and will be obsolete in the next few years despite right wing political parties making it about "Spain and their culture". Most young Spaniards despise it despite the protestations of those parties making it about "Spain".
ETA. This article is from 2016 but says 84% of young Spaniards reject bullfighting. It's probably over 90% now.
https://www.europapress.e...urino-20160121140903.htmlGood to know its support is plummeting. If Felipe and Letizia detest it, and it's widely unpopular anyway, why can't they refuse to attend it?
