The Spanish family was at the Princess of Asturias prize weekend I can't imagine they would skip such a thing. I wonder why Fred and Mary weren't there. Marge seems to have bad knees and/or hips and probably doesn't want to travel much but her camera seeking daughter in law is another thing.

I wonder if there were behind scene diplomatic issues with senior reigning royals- Daisy, Felipe, Letizia etc attending the very public wedding in Athens of the ex royal family? All those royals that did attend are “junior” enough for it not to be such a huge issue. Just a guess.
I think that's it - precisely. It's one thing for reigning monarchs to attend a Greek royal wedding in "neutral" London but altogether a different thing to attend one in Greece where the Greek royal family is anathema to the Greek Left. The reigning houses can send Sofia, Irene and Elena (Spain), Benedikte and daughter (Denmark), and the York sisters (UK) to honor the common heritage without giving the appearance of meddling in Greek affairs.

Nicholas had quite a few reigning royals at his own wedding --like WA and Max.  Frankly, I'm surprised the Michaels of Kent didn't show up, or a Mountbatten or two.
Nikolaos married in 2010. Beatrix of the Netherlands didn't abdicate until 2013. So, Willem-Alexander wasn't reigning at that point.

IIRC, Mary was so attention-seeking, she attended Nik & Tat's wedding without Fred though she had just come back from a long vacation in Oz (so she hadn't seen her kids in a while) and she was visibly pregnant. She had many compelling reasons not to go to Nik's wedding.
She had an opportunity to attention-whore here. Wonder why she didn't come?

I don't recognize her - does anyone know who she is?

Also, as others have noted, I'm very surprised that no one from Daisy's branch of the DRF was there - after all, Philippos is her nephew just as much as he is Bene's. I find it very odd.

This is my favorite look of the day. She's absolutely stunning anyway and this deep color combined with the green jewels is just WOW to me. I like MC's gown but it doesn't fit and she shouldn't be wearing white to a wedding (though I don't think she would have any issue upstaging a bride). Bea looks absolutely lovely.

As for the bride... well, they look happy. I think the dress would be nice if the top layer was gone because it swamps her. It's really a monstrosity IMO.

Olympia looks quite pretty here! I like the color and cut of her dress too.

Agreed. Isn’t she the one of fish lips fame? This picture is very pretty and natural. Great color of dress, too.

Hey!
I haven't read all the comments so my apologies if I repeat anything that's been said before.

First of all, I had no idea about the wedding, I saw an article last week, then I totally forgot until I saw pics from the pre-wedding party.

Allessandra de Osma was the best dressed but a little bit too much  the immediate family didn't go for such heavy gowns.

It's always nice to see Anne-Marie! I'm a fan of Alexia so great to see her as well. She was nicely dressed but she has always that warm smile and glow so even she was badly dress I wouldn't even notice!

I loved MO's dresses for both occasions, pre-wedding party and actual ceremony, simple, lovely and totally age appropriate! So this is a big deal, IMO, when it comes to her.

Her mother, on the other hand, well... her pre-wedding dress was somethign I would never evev choose to wear!
Her other gown though was great!

Tatiana is always effortlessly elegant! I didn't like her sea-tones dress but it suited her, however I totally loved her other gown!

Bene was greatly dressed as always!

Nice to see the York girls there!
I like Eug's dress but not for the occasion.

I saw a yellow dress, I think from the Miller family, I really liked it!

As for the bride... she's glowing from happiness, Philippos too so I wish them to be like this for the rest of their lives!
Full of love and happiness!!!! To have each other and to grow their family they way they want!

As to what happened in Greece, regarding the wedding...
I have no idea if special protection mesures were taken around the church.
The wedding was not cover at all by the greek media, except some referrences to what wore who and mentioning the York Girls attended in Hello magazine and another gossip website.
I read there were huge flat screens in two central parts in Athens and I also read many negative comments as to why this was necessary, if we're back to monarchy or if we're forced to support them...
IMO, partly they want to be seen as royals, you know real royals, but from the other hand, they didn't force anyone to watch and they do draw attention to the country so the complaints about the wedding (a wedding that didn't cost a thing to us as greek citizens) was out of place.

I think it is a bit "strange" (I don't want to say strange but can't think of a better word) if a republic has former royality acting as royality. There are bound to be different reactions from people - some will love it and regard it as entertainment, others will get annoyed because there were reasons you became a republic, yet they are still in their royal role and behave like royals, but without the legitimation.

I am also not sure if it is a good idea splashing your wealth into people's faces, especially when a lot of people are struggeling.

I did not recognise her... thought she was a girlfriend of a minor relative.... of course none of them are more than the beneficiaries of MC and family

Did Bea leave her 3 week old daughter? Or bring her? I wouldn't do either, particularly not in a pandemic.

I’d bet Felipe and Letizia weren’t there because of the Princessof Asturias awards happening onthis same weekend-

I thought that too. I wondered of maybe it being in Athens had made it an issue or anything. Who knows- seems odd esp for the lack of DRF people there. Are we surprised Felipe and Letizia aren't there? Or is that the result of MCs shade at Letizia?
