John (Juan), Prince of Asturias (1478-1497) was the son of King Ferdinand II of Aragon and Queen Isabella I of Castile.
I like the fact that he was named after both grandfathers: King John II of Aragon and King John II of Castile.

King Alfonso XII's father refused to even attend the baptism ceremony for his own son.
His father Francis, Duke of Cadiz eventually attended the ceremony.
