Elizabeth, Duke of Normandy

When the Public Accounts Committee were scrutinising the Duchy of Cornwall, it came up that QEII is also Duke of Normandy.

Does anyone know more about this? It seems pretty odd, not to mention offensive to French people, that Elizabeth claims to reign what is now their territory

Is that creation the same one Elizabeth has now? If it was created for the Duke of York, why is it now held by the sovereign

As a French woman, I don't recognize at all any title a foreign royal could have from a region of France.  There is no such "ducky of Normandy" for the QE2.
It's the first time I hear this news but I hope it's not a real title. It's probably an ancient title that has no reason to be.

It is her official title in the Channel Islands. The title goes back to William the Conqueror who was Duke there and unlike the mainland of Europe these islands have remained in English/British hands ever since and they still call the English/British monarch The Duke of Normandy. By 1205, England had lost most of its French lands, including Normandy. However, the Channel Islands, part of the lost Duchy, remained a self-governing possession of the English Crown.

While the islands today retain autonomy in government, they owe allegiance to The Queen in her role as Duke of Normandy.

This is not something new but something that shows that the people undertaking this enquiry haven't done some very, very basic research.

Ah, that's good.  As I've said this is not know in France, if not I'm sure some French media would tease about it.

It came up in passing when it was mentioned QEII is Duke of Lancaster, and a committee member said she is also Duke of Normandy. That's all.
