Events took place across the UK today to mark the 70th anniversary of the founding of the National Health Service. Members of the Royal Family met NHS staff and patients at engagements in England, Scotland and Wales.

The Prince of Wales - already in Wales for his annual week of engagements to celebrate Welsh achievement and culture - started the day with a Garden Party at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan hospital. Aneurin Bevan - the Welsh son of a coal miner and founder of the NHS - is a source of much pride in Wales.

I adore him, but just looking at those pictures I'd like to shout: "don't shake his hand, can't you see, you are hurting him?"
His hands look so incredibly painful.

I really enjoy following Clarence House on Instagram and watching the little clips they post from engagements. Charles is so kind to everyone he meets and takes time to talk to everybody, making them feel important. That's a good skill to have. I think he really genuinely cares about his causes and about other people.

Queen Mary's comment when he was born, about his awful "sausage fingers"! Poor man. It does look painful.

While they're always red and puffy, they do look more swollen in these pictures than usual. I bet he has several sets of his rings so he can wear bigger ones when he needs to.

It’s incredibly hot in the U.K. right now, my fingers are puffy too so I expect his condition is exacerbated by the heat and they look worse.  They look like he could happily bury them in ice cold water.  He looks like he’s lost some weight lately, he’s looking really good, relaxed and content.  I have a lot of time for Charles and Camilla, I think they are both so engaging and present when they’re at engagements, they never phone it in.  I was so impressed with Charles at the wedding, unlike his surly brother Andrew, he was the absolute gentleman, lovely with Meghan and her mom.  It was commented on at work many times which can only be good.

How Charles wrote letter of support to abuse bishop

Charles supported him and even found a home for him and his brother Michael, Bishop of Truro, on his Duchy of Cornwall estate between 1997 and 2011.

The prince also told the inquiry in a six-page statement that he had been deceived over a long period of time “about the true nature” of Ball’s activities, but denied that he had sought to influence the outcome of police investigations. He said he was unsure whether he was told about Ball’s caution until 2009.

In 2015, Ball was convicted of sexual offences against 18 young men and sentenced to 32 months in prison. An independent inquiry last year found that senior figures in the Church of England had engaged in collusion and cover-up over the case.

A Clarence House spokesman said: "In his statement The Prince makes it clear that he was unaware of the true nature of Mr Ball's behaviour until the latter's trial and conviction in 2015, at which point he severed all contact.
"Along with many others, he was deceived by Peter Ball over a very long period of time, which is something he deeply regrets."

sorry but not believe he did not know anything until 2015. 

so will Charles blame that now?
Because like William and Harry, he wants to always be the victim.

I always find it very very hard to judge the behavior of someone who supports and stands by a friend or family member who is accused of some wrong doing.
I am a very loyal person, and I want to believe in the innocence of someone I like and love or have respected for a long time. There have been sadly so many false accusations, that have ruined lives and we still have the assumption of innocence, that I think to cut all ties to someone accused is perhaps also not the fairest thing to do.

And how can you believe someone you like love and trusted is capable of such a depravity?

In the modern era, few have given service with such steadfast resolve, clarity of purpose and dedication to others, at home and on the world stage. Duty. Small talk and big talk. Soft power. It’s the thing that has underscored so much of the Prince Of Wales’ life.



The country will be a very different place from the one she inherited when Charles becomes king. And become king he will. Believe it or not there are still those who openly espouse the idea of the throne skipping a generation and being passed to Prince William like an unwanted baseball cap. This is not going to happen. Instead we can look forward to a path-making reign from someone who has been waiting and preparing for the role all his life.
