As once correctly explained by Pomme, long flowing hair is a treat for Dutch girls an women (in general) Smiley

Princesses, Queen, and other royal ladies are often imagined to have long, flowing and wonderful hair.

But over time there have been several royal ladies who decided to go short, and for some it  suited them very well!

Of course Diana:

Charlene:

Letizia:

Laurentien

Mary:

I've always loved SWMNBN's hairstyles in her post-divorce years and think Mathilde would look well with a similar cut.  The current one is rapidly approaching the Princess Bea hard-hat stage ...  Wink

I don't think I've ever seen the photo of Yrma with hair that short. It was an extremely flattering look for her!

I agree, the bob was not very well done, imo, btu Mary looked good. She was pregnant with Isabella, and a little fuller in the face than usual. Charlene looked better with longer hair, imo, although she has very fine hair that probably benefits from regular trimmings.

I always wonder how they attach a tiara without an updo to secure it to.

Well short hair and tiara's, Bee pulled it off for years. But yeah she is also famous for her hairspray hairdo. Even in that way, there was a pictogram made of her, and almost every Dutchmen know who the pictogram represented (without being informed before). Solely because of the hair.
