The end of a very long era in Romanian history.

Rest in peace.

I hope they do not deny his grandson to take part in the funeral after they did deny him to see his dying grandfather.

That's the first thing I thought of.  The poor kid never got to make peace with his dying grandfather or see him one last time.  Thumb down

It's so sad for him that he was not allowed to see his grandfather one last time. Sad

I agree.  It's almost inhumane, and TBH, I find it hard to believe that this was the reason for his supposed refusal to see Nicolas.  I think there were some other family members involved who were using that as an excuse.

I bet that Nicholas's ostracism and "disinheritance" is the handy work of Radu Duda.

This still begs the question of whether monarchy is allowed in Romania? Does this just mean that as "head of the house", she is going to call herself Queen of Romania? Is this legal? WTF?

From reading the article I take it to mean it's only a title with no legal/official role in Romania.  They have no power and are basically private citizens.  I could be completely wrong though.  It never seems clear cut when former rulers titles pass to another generation.

I've been wondering the same thing about Pavlos of Greece.  I know in the case of the Habsburgs, the head of the house is not emperor, but rather just Archduke.  I suspect she'll remain Crown Princess, but that's just purely a guess.

On the RF website she calls herself Custodian of the Crown, not
queen. So who knows, I think they are somewhat irrelevant now
