While there have often been full focus on Crown Princess Mary's work as a valuable and cherished patron, it is rarer that the spotlight falls on Princess Marie.

It is quite natural that the royal hierarchy kept alive, but the year is Princess Marie violated longer to light, says historian and Ph.D. Sørensen.

"It's a balancing act for her because she has to create its own identity and profile, while she must not overshadow the Crown Princess," explains Sørensen.

After six years as a princess, she has now 14 patronages. BT has talked to three of them, all talking about Princess Marie as a committed, empathetic and active patron.

This year visited Princess Marie Roskilde Festival, DanChurchAid total mortgage along to the world's poorest. Much to the delight of the volunteers said the organization's Secretary General, Birgitte Qvist Sørensen.

"It made a noise like crazy when we were there. But she was standing and talking to our volunteers, because she thought it was so wildly fantastic that young people would work hard from morning to night to raise money for the world's poorest, "says Qvist-Sørensen.

Autism Girls
Also with Autism, as the princess herself asked to be patron of her work has been of great importance. National President Heidi Thames Squad tells of a meeting with the princess in 2012 before she became patron of the association. Princess Marie visited the girl project workshop in Aarhus, as teenage girls with autism using.

"The girls who were there, still talking about the visit. Even if it were some great girls then and they are young women today, so remember they still have the attention she gave them. It will talk about the rest of life, I think, "says Heidi Thames squad.

Not just princess dust
Danish Epilepsy Association is another of Princess Mary's patronage. She took over the work after Prince Henrik at the end of 2013. Here they experience a patron who sincerely filing in the people she meets.

"She was not just and sprinkled princess dust out of an event, but for example, took time to sit down and draw with the children when she visited Epilepsy with us," says National President Lone Noerager Kristensen.

That's not a mandatory event that's covered by the tax payers.  Queen Ingrid started this tradition.  Graasten is their vacation home.  Ingrid would have her daughters and their families join her there.  They allowed the press to come and photograph them in exchange for being left alone for the rest of the trip. 

It's not a big deal that they weren't there.  Jokke and Marie spend the year working very hard and showing up enthusiastically to their work events and other things that are actually covered by the Danish tax payer.

Actually, they don't. 

Unlike Mary, Jokke and Marie have not hired a PR firm that spends its time courting the press. 

And if you're going to make the argument about taxpayers, then why should the taxpayer pay for Mary?

Oh, but Mary's work is all charity....so why should the Danish taxpayers have to front their money for her 150 pair of nude shoes, international designer clothing, and tons of jewelry?

You are comparing apples to apples, but think apples and oranges.

I think BT quoting this is a way of saying to Mary 'we know you're superficial and this is how it should be done'.  I also think it shows that BT will be blinding loyal to those members of the family who can't be divorced out.

I don't know the dynamics behind BT but since, from what I have learned here, it has always been Mary's territory, I find greatly suspicious that Marie gets so much (and well deserved) praise...
