Was this announced already? Sounds like a lovely idea (albeit, a copy of the tea party the Maddie of Sweden held)...   Jumping

Quote
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to host 'Party At The Palace'   The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry will host a very special tea party in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, to honour the children of those who have died serving in the Armed Forces.

The 'Party at The Palace' will take place on 13th May and will be a fun and family focused event featuring live performances, various stalls, games on the lawn and the chance to explore the gardens.

Invites will be issued this week to the children aged up to 18 years of those who have died in service for their country, with each young person accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The party will also be attended by a number of charities which help support families, and specifically children dealing with bereavement, including Child Bereavement UK.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have arranged the event as a way to acknowledge and honour the fact that a number of young children have had to come to terms with the loss of someone very close to them at a young age, having lost a parent in Armed service to the country. Their Royal Highnesses hope the event will provide an opportunity for these children to broaden their support networks amongst other families with similar experiences.

Well, it's been done before. Camilla has held Christmas parties for sick children for instance.

Did she? That's awesome! I don't dip into the C&C threads very often, unless they are going on a tour or something. But, that's really great. That's what the royals should be doing all the time - little benefits like this for children/young people. The photos from Maddie's tea party were just so sweet (and I imagine Cams were the same...will see if I can find some pics for myself). I feel like so many children "want to be a princess" or a knight or something that I bet it's a wonderful highlight to take their mind off of being sick or missing/losing a parent...if even for just a moment. And - I would hope - that it give the royal some perspective on being brave in the face of suffering (real suffering, Willy, not what you perceive as your terribly hard life).

Edited because as soon as I started searching for photos I remembered that she invited kids to decorate the Christmas tree last Christmas (and it seems to be her annual tradition). The pictures are all pretty cute and she looks really relaxed and engaging (serving food, kneeling on the floor)! Big ups for Cams   Jumping  I'll have to check out her thread more often. Thanks, Maria!!  Beer

So Harry couldn't go skiing 'cause big bro William made a fool of himself on his own skitrip. Do we believe this?

Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.u...-dance-ski-trip-axed.html

Shots of his elder brother William 'dad dancing' on his recent lads' skiing trip to Verbier may well have raised a smile on Prince Harry's lips.
But now poor Harry is laughing on the other side of his face ? after cancelling a trip he was planning to the lively Swiss resort in the aftermath of William's high jinx.

On top of his very awkward dance moves, William, 34, was caught on camera chatting to a blonde at the Verbier nightclub ? when he placed a hand on her waist ? and at a boozy lunch attended by a 24-year-old former topless model from Australia.
After the wave of negative publicity that followed, Harry, 32, has pulled out of a big party in the resort this weekend, and will be in London with girlfriend Meghan Markle instead. The bash at Le Rouge bar had been organised by Harry's close friend Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe for his record company, Housekeeping. Harry will also miss the chance to catch up with best pal Tom 'Skippy' Inskip and his new wife Lara Hughes-Young.
The couple, whose wedding Harry and Meghan attended in Jamaica three weeks ago, are skiing in nearby Zermatt and Harry could easily have nipped across to see them. Last night one of Harry's Verbier friends said: 'Everyone was expecting him, but he'd be mad to be seen here after the furore his brother created.' William is said to be incandescent after the pictures of him partying went public and has vowed never to go dancing in Verbier again.

Harry has an engagement (meeting) on Friday this week so I doubt he'd be going to Switzerland. He is not exactly warm buddies with Jacobi Calthorpe who's holding this party he was supposed to be rushing to. Harry saw Jacobi a few times when he dated his half-sister, Cressida B, but that's it. Jacobi was Chelsy's friend not Harry's. The article doesn't make sense anyway, nothing new for the DM! Why would Harry nipping over to see Skippy and Lara Inskip in Zermatt, a different resort altogether, be prevented because of Willy boy's antics in Verbier?

I hope that the highlighted part of the story is true, for the idea of Willie Boy being incandescent about those pictures being published gives me enormous pleasure.  The knowledge that he knows that we have seen the vid of his performance and therefore have seen what a git he is when he does not know we are watching, is a source of great joy to me.

We had heard rumors for weeks that Harry was going skiing, but perhaps it was William all along, or Harry really was going skiing and finally grew up and realized what kind of image that would give him. It would undo all the good things he's been doing lately. May be the press savvy GF had something to do with him not going?

Well I guess he has to go to a very discrete and secret place if he doesn't want to be filmed this way again. As in current times almost everybody has (smart)phones with camera's and all. More and more things will be shared (online), items for which you before needed to be a press employee or a private detective.

I don't think anyone gives a rat's ass if either of the boys goes skiing, honestly; it's the protracted adolescence everyone's objecting to.

I think the press savvy private secretary that he actually listens to had something to do with it. Remember ELF used to work on PR and he's done a lot to help Harry develop and Harry actually listens to his advice (unlike a certain bald gremlin and Miguel).

No real info. The Orangery is being expanded underground but that's it. The rest is fanfiction.

I have to agree with the highlighted part. Savvy GF has many talents, but skiing isn't one of them. For many people it's second nature, for her it's not. So why go somewhere that highlights their different backrounds? Or why would she surround herself with girls / women whom have been skiing their whole lives? It only makes her look bad/clumsy.

Disclaimer: I know someone could interpret this in the wrong way. Let me explain. Like Savvy GF, I am bi-racial; black mom, white dad. When I say it's likely she didn't learn to ski at a young age, I don't mean that in a racist way of course. It's just, she probably didn't. It's not a common thing in her cultural backround, nor her social one. Now she is older, she probably had this actors insurance where it's forbidden to ski. Why take risks?

True but William's timing was just terrible. I continue to say they surround themselves with a circle of friends that as you put it are all in protracted adolescence. It's something 20 somethings with money do not 30 somethings. On the other hand  people keep telling me that Millennials are not mature in general thus we have 30 somethings acting like 20 somethings - add in money and title and there you have it. I'm not sure William will ever grow up. Harry might if he can break free of the friends, but as long as he hangs out with this Skippy person who just got married, it's not going to happen. I'm not sure the work ethic is there for either one, but a little more with Harry lately. I hope he continues to shape up.

There's pics of her skiing. She does ski. Maybe not frequently but she does.
