He was sent to many drug rehab centres all over Europe, but unfortunately none seemed to work for him.  A highly intelligent man with great promise could not conquer his addictions to drugs and sex.  His early death should be of no real surprise.  I am sure theories will surface that his death was no accident, but I believe his body could simply no longer handle the self-abuse and that is why his heart gave out on him.

Same. It's incredibly shocking to hear but not entirely a surprise. It's just so, so, so sad; he was far too young Cry

Rashid and Hamdan have both had problems with drugs in the past.

Little Star - if what you say about Hamdan is true then I hope he's conquered his demons.  If he is on drugs then hopefully his brothers death will be a wake up call.

RIP Prince Rashid.  My condolences to the family especially sheikh Muhammed and Sheikha Hind - no parent should have to bury their child.

So sad Sad

There have been stories about several of the brothers for years and Hamdan was named in the Wikileaks cables.

Hamdan seems to have overcome whatever his demons were but who knows - maybe he's become a better actor. Time will tell.

No parent should ever have to bury their child. All the money and position in the world doesn't protect you from the pain caused by something that is just inherently unnatural. My sympathies to all of his family, but especially his parents.

He was quite notorious in the press re: drugs, homosexuality(not that I have anything against it), had statuary depicting sex in his palace, etc. I am pretty well thinking that there was quite a bit of 'better living through chemistry' leading up to his death. What a waste of someone who could have done anything with their life.

This was coming, sadly. Rashid was supposedly removed from his position as "heir" because of his behavior. If you are familiar with wiki leaks his replacement, Hamdan, has only been about a scintilla better behaved over the years. One could hope this would be a true wake up call, but the over indulgent life style the young men in theses families are allowed to live are not conducive to healthy, introspective self improvement IMO.

Drugs was my first thought when I read about his death today.

I must say his mother must have excellent and very strong genes. He and his brothers look alike and have very strong, very distinguished features. For a casual observer like me, it is hard to distinguish between brothers.

His death is very sad and unfortunately very common. I have had two young men (late twenties) in my extended circle of friends and family die of heart attack because of taking high purity drugs. And both were fully functioning adults, ready to start their respective careers.

It is extremely hard on parents.
