Hi everyone! Brand new to the board but not new to royal-watching. Mostly I stick to jewels and clothes, but every so often I get really curious about some of the personalities.

Which is how I ended up here. I've been puzzling for several years about the weirdness in Luxembourg. The very frumpy dressing (on most people), the relentless and illogical hand-me-downs for formal occasions, the over-use of some really sub-standard tiaras. And the overall lack of serious hair/makeup/style direction for Stephanie. Some people really don't have the knack for dressing themselves well... but in the royal world they also usually have a lot of help. On top of that, the very obvious work being done... I'm naive about a lot of these things but it was blindingly obvious in this case. There was only one way it made logical sense: that M-T was calling ALL the shots to make herself look as good as possible. I came desperate to find some honest, gloves-off discussion and found it here! What a relief! And also rather pleased that EVERYTHING I had suspected on my own is pretty much the board consensus.

Anyway! Glad to be here, and I'm hoping I don't step over any lines! It seems like a fun place and I want to stick around.

Welcome! M-T has definitely given us a lot to talk about over the last few months. Enjoy RD - it's a fun (and honest!) place.

Welcome Ms Brooks!

Once you've digested the Lux thread, I would recommend you look into the threads connected with the GD Henri's older sister Marie Astrid. She married into the Habsburg Lotharingen family and all kinds of weird happen there. I mean WEIRD weird. The 'new Hapsburg niblets?' for example is very entertaining. As is everything else related to the Habsburgs who, as we all know, lost their status of nobility at the end of WWI (like, over a century ago).

The NotQueenMary (ie Danish) threads are originally the heart and soul of RD (right, elders?) and they are really fun. Princess Barbie - fun. Monaco - fun. Queen Max and her bad hair months/moth jewels/sartorial sh*te: priceless.

Enjoy the various rabbit holes!

PS if you want to browse tiaras that aren't covered by OoS or TCJ, dive into the Tiara thread. A true vault of immeasurable depth and splendour.

Thank you for the tips! I'm definitely going to check these out. I love Max , even with her crazy sense of style and lamentable hair - looking forward to some good reading!

Welcome from me too!  Nice to have another classic TV character around!

And Pomme, I might have to re-read some of those threads, especially Marie-Astrid’s. They are such a mess!

Now now Mrs Walker, classic as you both may be, Ms Brooks has a spotless reputation whereas yours, one can only conclude, is in dire need of a family box of Tide.

Looks like I missed something on joining the forum.... Hi, everyone. I don't regret joining this forum. I've learned a lot just in my short time here. Some of it has been hard to swallow, but even that stuff makes me better, so I consider it all a good thing. I'm reconsidering things, however. I'm not finding myself to be very welcome here. I've already been accused of "borderline trolling" by a moderator, and I'm not clear on why that is, but if they said it, I must be doing something wrong. Clearly, I'm not a fit here. Also, apparently, I'm just out to up my post count, according to another two people. I've started threads and revived old ones, and that seems to be a no-no. I don't regret it, I'm glad I tried it. I think you guys have a good thing going here. It was fun. Thanks for the experience.

I’m sorry to hear you’re leaving.  I have also been a little confused on the rules at times.  Not sure that people mean to be harsh, especially to someone new, but I did figure out early on that they don’t like old threads opened to up your post count.  But other than that, it’s been a mostly interesting experience.  Hopefully, you’ll give it a little longer before you jump ship.

I'm new but I've been lurking for a few weeks. I love this forum and I joined because it's a lot of fun to read.  I don't want to step on toes or break any rules but are we not supposed to comment on old threads?  I love the Tiara thread and it's a subject of great interest to me but I don't want to comment or post on it if I'm not supposed to.  I love the fashion threads, too, but again, if replying to old threads is off limits, I'd like to know.  They're old threads but they're new to me...sorry, just confused.

Welcome Lievre!  Posters generally frown on threads being excavated from years ago.  Threads, such as the tiara thread, which may have been started a long time ago but are still frequently used are absolutely fine.  Have fun!
